 Well, hello!
« Thread Started on Oct 30, 2009, 7:46am »

Well, hello everyone!

Wow, I NEVER would have guessed that there was a Cillian Murphy fan board! But I am really glad there is!

He is my favorite actor and an absolute inspiration to my own acting.

My first Cillian film was Batman Begins and, honestly, I didn't pay much attention to him until I watched my now all time favorite movie Breakfast On Pluto. After that I just went crazy and started watching every movie I could find with him in it.

Well, my name is Nick! I hope to get to know all of you! ;D

Hey Nick, welcome to the Cillian forum.

Of course there had to be a forum for such an immensely talented actor! ;) Glad you think he's amazing too. His performance in BoP is class. I completely forget it's Cillian- the same guy who plays Pig, Capa, Rippner, Damien etc- when i'm watching it. He gets so into every role he plays.

You're studying acting?

I know! It's always great to watch him in new roles because his characters are always so different and he always nails them spot on!

I'm not studying acting, I just used to act when I was in middle school and haven't had the chance to do it and I've been itching to get out there and start acting again. I'm actually going to audition for a role in an upcoming play at a local theater. It may sound sort of geeky, but I'm a writer so sometimes I'll write a script and act it out myself. ;P

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Hey LovelyInfection! Nice to meet you! :) I was so excited when I found this place too. :) He is completely amazing in Breakfast on Pluto you almost forget he is even a man he is so breathtaking in that role! I think his acting just has that effect on people because I too went on a Cillian spree renting every movie of his I could get a hold of!

I was in drama class in High School. It was fun but I couldn't get over my shyness. I don't see how Cillian does it, I know he is kind of shy too. I guess it gets easier with time. Good luck with your audition, and you are not geeky for acting out your scripts! ;)

Welcome to the site Nick! Good to meet you and hope you enjoy your stay ;)

I think that's great that you are auditioning for a part! And as with Larva don't think that sounds geeky at all. I think it sounds really cool! Wishing you the best of luck with that, hope all goes well! :)

Thank you both!

And shyness used to be my biggest problem when I was acting because I didn't want people to think I was stupid.

Nowadays though, I realize that it doesn't matter. We are acting and playing characters so if the character calls for me to be a certain way then I will put 100% into BECOMING the character.

Can completely relate. I was also the same when it came to taking part in drama classes in senior school years ago. And even though I've always found acting a really interesting subject - even to this day I know I couldn't bring myself to perform in front of an audience. To be fair though, I don't think I've got much acting talent in me anyways (lol). But when it comes to anyone who can push ahead with a goal like that, despite extreme feelings of shyness, then I have alot of admiration for them as appreciate it can't be an easy thing at all! ;)

Good for you! :) That goes to show what a deep sense of commitment you have, which is certainly a very good thing to have when it comes to acting. Hope you get the part! Or at the least that you get something useful out of attending the audition that helps you for the future! I always personally find that if I've not done a job interview in a while, but then start doing them then I don't tend to do too well on my first couple or so. But then after that I start to do better. Practice makes perfect! ;) Let us know how things go!

Good luck with the audition Nick, let us know how it goes.
I've always thought acting would be fun but like most people i'd be too shy/embarassed to get up infront of loads of people and do it. I know if you just get over the nervousness and immerse yourself then it'd be great but it's so daunting!

Yes acting is VERY stressful too. Even if I get the part I will still feel immensely pressured because after getting the part comes memorizing lines, figuring out how to become the character and rehearsals galore. But I don't care I just want to act! lol. And I'll be sure to let everyone know how it goes even if it goes bad. Even if it does though I'll still be content that I got the chance.

btw I just finished watching Disco Pigs again with my mom who was watching it for the first time. She thought it was just okay because she didn't really get it while I was fighting back tears at the end. ;P

I was the same when watching it for the first time and got to the ending lol! I didn't actually cry but came pretty close to it! It is a brilliant film! And includes a fantastic early career performance from Cillian! It's one of those films that really leaves an impact on you, once you've properly grasped the idea of what it's about. Definitely one of the most outstanding films I've ever seen! I really enjoyed it too! :D

Yeah and the more you think about it and what happened and how he knew but let her do it....It's powerful.
I love afterwards when she says about being alone and the sky really being a big blue thing up there. I can't remember exactly how she phrases but she seems to innocent and fragile.

ok eye contact is very important never look dont or shy away from eye contact unless you want to bring attention to something because with eyes when you lose focus it gives an alarming sense of guilt and that guilt is always connected to supposing it to be an hidden agenda, so keep your eyes clean you know your not in the wrong there's no hidden motive, the charm of acting or talisman rather!
