So some video game nerds know that there is going to be a movie based off the amazing game Metal Gear Solid. While thinking about the casting, I remembered the character, Dr. Hal "Otacon" Emmerich and after seeing some pics of him, realized that Cillian could be a great choice for Otacon. Just in case you're wondering, this picture came from the most recent game, MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots, so Otacon would be looking a bit aged. He kinda looks like a mixture between Crane and Capa, no? Plus I saw this amusing fake trailer for the movie, and it seems that some other people agree - www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1hWcZh7A74 Anyone else here agree?

I can see a resemblence but Cillian would have to age about 15-20 years. LOVE that last picture of Cillian! Long hair! ;D

Well, those pics of Otacon are from the most recent game in the Metal Gear franchise. They were the only good pics of him I could get. But here's some pics of younger Otacon from older games. Of course, they're not as well rendered or pretty as the GotP pics, but then again, Playstation 1 graphics leave a lot to be desired in this day and age. This is from "Twin Snakes," a sort of remake of the first Metal Gear Game for the PS2 and Gamecube.

Initially, I was gonna say that Octacon is too stale of a character for Cillian. But then I remembered that Octacon had a thing for his mother (eeew) in MG2 and figured, hey, that would sooo be a cool character-study for Cillian. ^_^

Actually, it was his step-mom. Otacon seems to be something of a sexual screw-up. (sweatdrops) Plus, I just love the thought of him having that anvil-sized slashy subtext with Snake (Snake/Otacon is my MGSlash OTP). I also personally think Cillian could play a good Raiden, if only because I'd like to see him strapped naked to that torture machine and then having to run around to get his gear back (and possibly do some naked cartwheels along the way). XD And welcome to the board, radius! I'm glad to see another Metal Gear fan.

Hah, I know what you mean about the slashy subtext in the game. I think we all know what he was doing while his kid sis needed his help. Oh, and thanks for the welcome! ^_^ Yep, MG rocks. Oops, forgot to comment on that naked cartwheel thing. Yeah, Cillian should so play Raiden.

Glad to be of service to you. ;D Well, actually, Raiden kept his hands over his crotch the entire time. It was actually a bit frustrating, since with his hands covering him up, he couldn't defend himself against enemies when spotted. And even when he got hit in the face, he still kept his hands over his crotch (he reaaaalllly must've wanted to hide something ). Well, here's a pic-by-pic comparison. What do you think? Poor Raiden, there's not much left of him by the time MGS4 rolls around. I could also say the same for poor Snake as well. And here's a fun little bit of trivia - Raiden's real name is Jack, and when he was being trained to become a child soldier and the leader of Solidus Snake's Small Boys Unit, he was nicknamed "Jack the Ripper" because he was so good at killing. Sound like a beloved character of ours?

Ooooo, here's someone else Cillian could play! Vincent from Silent Hill 3. He's also a Konami character (Konami is the distributor for both MGS and Silent Hill), and he looks a bit like Otacon, eh? And since there's going to be a sequel to the movie, I hope they'll consider putting Vincent in (and maybe cast Cillian as Vincent). Seems that a couple other people agree as well - www.youtube.com/watch?v=glNORsTPOiI (look at the comments).

There's gonna be a Silent Hill 2? I didn't even really like the first Silent Hill , did you, Kizuna? I haven't played the game or anything, but I thought the movie was pretty terrible. I don't know about video game to movie adaptations... they never really turn out that good, do they? Anyway, there's a similarity between Cillian and this character, but are you sure you're just not seeing Cillian everywhere, in every video game? Hehe. Just kidding. I know, it happens to the best of us.

Yeah, it does! ;D Okay, Cillian's way over due for a naked fight scene! lol If he ever does, that means he will have to put on a little bit of muscle and that would be totaly sexy! Plus the whole bonus of him being naked!

Yeah, there's going to be a sequel. Personally I liked the SH movie. Sure, it wasn't perfect, but it was a whole lot better than anything that arsehole Uwe Boll would've churned out. Silent Hill actually did keep rather close to the game's story and the atmosphere was just like that in the game. I do recommend that you play the games, rukia, but only if you're not overly squeamish and aren't prone to panic attacks; the games can do that to you. I'm speaking from experience. I think the prolem lies with the fact that the directors and studios really don't know what they're working with. It's like comic book movies all over again - early movies based on comic books were usually bad, but nowadays, they're being made like crazy (I personally can't wait for Watchmen) and earning positive reviews left and right. Perhaps video games will follow the same path. And as long as the game's makers are also involved in the making of the movie and keep Uwe Boll as far away from the project as possible (like what Hideo Kojima (MGS) and Bungee (Halo) did), video game to movie adaptations may actually become a respectable medium in the near future. Yes, if Cillian were to play Raiden, he'd definitely have to pack on the muscle, since Raiden was the handpicked agent of The Patriots to defeat Solidus. But no matter which character Cillian plays, be it Otacon or Raiden, one thing's for sure - he'll still end up being Snake's b*tch. XD Not that being Solid Snake's b*tch is a bad thing of course.
