Anyone want to discuss the book who has read it?? I just finished reading it. Cillian confirmed in one of the interviews during the In Time premier that he's playing the teacher!!! Which is probably one of my favourite characters in the book, Mr Jeffries. I love him. Cillian as a teacher just seems perfect! I also did not know it was based off of To Kill a Mockingbird because I never read that book and one cursory glance at the plot on wikipedia explains Broken a LOT lol. Anyways. Those of you thinking to read it... you should! I won't post any spoilers just in case. But yeah. Let me just say his character says a few things that I'm going to be very disappointed about if they don't make it into the film!! Do you think you can describe Cillian's character in spoiler tags? How big is his character in the story? Is it the biggest or one of the biggest? Also do you have a link to the interview where he talks about the movie. Thanks.

I think you can write it with black color and mark the area with asterisks. I've never done it, but I'll try now... *spoilerspoilerspoilerspoiler...*
^ If that worked, spoiler-hunters can paint the area.
Edit: Damn... It's still visible. I can't help you then, but hopefully someone else can...

I just found out that Tim Roth is going to be in this film, too. He's one of my favorite actors, so I'm really, really excited about watching this! ;D YAY! So many exciting new Cillian films to look to look forward to...first, "Red Lights" with Robert De Niro, and "Broken" with Tim Roth!!! *sings, "Happy, happy, joy, joy...."* ;D

www.iftn.ie/actors/actorsnews/?act1=record&only=1&aid=73&rid=4284510&tpl=archnews&force=1I've been wondering this for weeks... How can the film be released in 2014? It's been filmed already. I don't think the post production will last for over two years? I guess that's evaluated release time, but still. They can't torture us for that long. I suppose it's worth the wait, but it's just inhuman. I want to see it next year. 2013 at the latest. I should never follow film productions. I get impatient and insane.

IMDb also says 2014. I really hope we don't have to wait that long.

As has already been mentioned Cillian will be playing Mr Jeffries, the teacher. His character is a total victim. I felt bad for him most of the time. He has elements of a lot of Cillian's other characters, actually. If anyone who hasn't read the book would like to know anything about his character, do let me know In his younger days, I think he'd have made a perfect Broken Buckley. When I was reading the book (though Broken is described in negative terms) I kept thinking of Pig. It's a BBC film though so the 2014 release date is not actually that unusual. Not sure how much distribution it's going to get. Was very low budget, a 'small film', I read.

Oh wow. You're right, he probably could've played a really great Broken. Such a perfect creepy roll for Cillian.

Oh wow. You're right, he probably could've played a really great Broken. Such a perfect creepy roll for Cillian. Broken was just damaged, abused and, well, broken. But as I was reading it, I couldn't help but think that Cillian had every little talent as an actor to make you feel bad for that character whilst he's doing the things that he does; to help you identify with this boy who has been shattered irrepairably and no longer functions on a level that's rooted in reality OR morality. He has that air of vulnerability about him needed for a role like this. I don't know the actor who is playing Broken but I guess he looks more the part. Cillian's too attractive for the role. Broken is mocked for his looks, for his size in certain areas, he's hardly a 'catch' lets say. Actually, reading about Misterman, the character of Thomas Magill is not unlike Broken is he? The whole thread with Broken and his doomed 'affair' with the girl, the fact that you pity him even in his madness...

Only the 'Making of' but still.
