I were there on tuesday too! My mother and I asked a very nice security guy if cillian would come out at the stage door, and he told ud that he would ask him. We went back a while later to find him, and he told us that he wouldn't come out, because of some previews or something. Then I wrote a note and gave it to him, and he kindly promised he would give it to him. But it was such an experience to see him in that play! I came 'all the way' from denmark to see it, and it was amazing. Even though I sometimes had a hard time understanding everything, especially because i'm only 16 and not used to irish accents ;-) (Except from all the cillian-movies i've seen). But he is definetely the best and the most sexy actor i have seen by far in my opinion.

But it was such an experience to see him in that play! I came 'all the way' from denmark to see it, and it was amazing. Wow, that's great! And you mom was simply awesome. I remember when I was 18 biting my knuckles because I could never go to London to see Ralph Fiennes in Hamlet. My mom would never have come with me, mostly because she doesn't speak a word of English... Isn't it heartwarming that so many people from all around the world travelled to London to see Cillian on stage? Wikkles and I met a woman from Japan, she barely understood English and she was walking with a stick. We thought she was immensely brave, travelling from the other side of the world all alone to see Misterman. Well, it's worth the trouble, I'd say

I am wondering if I should watch Misterman a second time, a lot of it went straight over my head the first time around. I agree it should be watched twice, especially if you're a foreigner like us. I come from a more similar background, with the Catholic church in Italy and life in small villages, but I agree it's difficult to understand if you're not a native. The language is very thick, very meaningful, it's a pleasure to listen to it, especially when it's played by a terrific actor, a true master with his voice, but I agree it's difficult to understand. I'm really glad I read it before watching it....I've been learning English for most of my life, I have a degree in language & literature, but it was difficult for me too, though my dissertation was about Under Milk Wood, which is frightfully similar and possibly harder to understand. That's why I'm coming back for a second viewing...all I could think was "I need to watch this again, to better understand".

I would have been more than happy with seeing him for a minute at the stage door but now that I still haven't met him I have put it inside my head to return to the National Theatre and try to meet him again, if he would have spent some time immediately after the play talking to fans it wouldn't get to a point where people are literally trying to track him down (though I swear I am not some crazed stalker) Well, you may not be a stalker, enomis (and welcome to the boards~! but there are others in the world who are insatiable when it comes to seeing Cillian in person. In fact, some seem to feel entitled to meeting him repetitively, and in my opinion it's not healthy behavior. I can understand the draw of connecting with one's idol just once to make a special memory, but beyond that it can become intrusive and I do think Cillian has very good reasons for avoiding the public. It's sad that the more casual fans such as you may not get to meet him because of this, but as they say, a few bad apples.... Good luck, enomis! I hope you indeed get to meet him. quite a discussion Well, I admit I like lean men, I'm not a fan of muscles (and of course I married a very muscular man!) but Cillian is well built, if thin. There were *other* things I cringed at in WTD the script, namely! LMAO!! Agreed, Leyla!! And count me among those who enjoy leaner men. Lean but muscular of course, or sinewy, as someone here put it. A man can be thin but still look athletic - that's where I would say Cillian falls. He has become a bit more filled out recently, and that's good.

I would like to reply some of your answers, but i must admit that i have nooo idea how to do it. Is it the 'link to post' button??? Cause i almost reported someone, because of my lack of knowledge But true leyla11, it was awesome that my mom wanted to go with me! She didn't really like him much before i MADE her watch breakfast on pluto, but now she agrees that he is an amazing actor, even though he is not her type at all! And i totally agree with all of you, that it's a play you should see more than once. I would also really like to go to london again, but unfortunately i don't have the money. I'll probably just do a cillian night and watch all his movies in a row instead, though it's not even close to seeing him i real life

I read of someone driving for hours to turn up on him. That, to me, seems disturbing as it seemed like a regular occurrence. I can imagine that might be a little, well, daunting?
He'd signed stuff for the girls i heard talking. It might just be that he doesn't want that 'false meeting' scenario straight after a performance, especially if he's got things to do. If he's busy he's busy. It's sad that people travel all that way and don't get to meet him if that's what they really really want to do but isn't watching him give an amazing performance enough? I'm not criticising anyone here. I just feel that we're not really entitled to criticise him when he's given us all he has for an hour and a half. Anything else is a bonus, not an entitlement.
Maybe it's just me thinking that. But I was happy just with seeing him perform.

Maybe it's just me thinking that. But I was happy just with seeing him perform. I agree with you. The only thing I wished was to say thanks because he has been a joy and an inspiration for me in the last 10 years. He stands for all that's right and good in cinema and theatre. It's thanks to people like Enda & Cillian that there is hope for theatre and cinema. I understand people react in a different way and I truly respect his integrity and privateness, they're huge qualities for me. I only hope he understands the public appreciates his hard work! Yet I think he does

I agree with that Hyacinth 100% and it is indeed a bonus to see him to offer compliments and thank you's etc and just acknowledge the fact stands he's a normal human being! The play is definitely enough! I was really embarrassed in Galway when he popped up out of nowhere in the foyer, I certainly didn't expect that, all I did was go to the loo.... though when I came out of the loo, I actually ran away blushing and awkward but my friends called me back for photos. It was a sweet day. Lots of beer and summery weather! ;D

It deserves every review it gets, every hyperbolic jumble of words that it inspires a person to write. Cillian's 'Thomas' truly is a masterpiece of a mess of a man.

Lovely review. Though Thomas doesn't have 'blackness in his heart' at all. At least, not to me.

Lovely review. Though Thomas doesn't have 'blackness in his heart' at all. At least, not to me. To me Thomas is a pure soul, he's like a child and he's got a child's faith and a child's extremism. If anything, he is too pure. It's probably not the same for everyone, but the amazing thing about Misterman and Enda's writing in general is, everyone can see something different in it.

None of his actions are done out of evil. None at all. They're done because he's misguided and seriously ill. I feel horribly sad for him.

Seriously wish I knew what you guys were talking about...but with the small bits of the performance that I AM hearing, the 'wearier' his voice his; the more he's losing it.
