No Razz, you certainly didn't deserve that message from your friend. There's really no need for the whole world to follow and like that event. I saw the event and I thought on one hand, yes, it was really emotional and beautiful and moving and original (yet a bit cheesy and kitchy but most events like this are And: WOW! I didn't know it was directed by Danny Boyle!! ) How great!! ) but I can also hear you on the critics about the money spent on this, Razz. I was talking about this too with my boyfriend with whom I was watching this. But to be honest, this critic can be used for EVERY "useless" event in the whole world. Yes, I know, the olympic ceremonies in general are of course to show off a country and to show prestige and stuff. So one could really discuss the need to spend money only on showing prestige. And another thing is.... I don't see that the main problem of poverty of people in this world is caused by money wasted on such ceremonies or events and stuff... I think humanity should focus on the real reasons why people in this world are starving to death or are poor and suffering. And that's the way how money is spread in this world. It's spread WRONG. A few people have way way way too much money and instead of supporting the poor they crouch on their wealth and they save it and they multiply it for no other reason as, well, multiplying it or wanting to compare their account status to eachother like pubertal boys their willies or I don't know for what other egoistic, pointless reasons. Okay, sure it is much more complex then I am articulating it here (and there are many other components to this like politics or lobbyism and a lot more), but this is not my native tounge and I am no expert in economy. So please don't see this as an essay about poverty in the world. It's just a post in a forum.

That was in no way fair of your friend, I mean your friend should respect your choice, and I mean what's so bad about missing it?
I completely agree with your points, while I loved watching it, I couldn't help thinking it was a bit too grand for the times we live in... at least they made some political points on some stuff I heavily agree with, so that's something at least

Yeah Zombz I agree. This is made around focusing on the UK mainly but it has global implications too. Very interesting and educating. It's facts, not one of those fanatic weirdo videos

Oh yeah, no i know that it's not the main cause but when you think about it is those few people with all that money who aren't distributing it evenly that are then spending it on things like that ceremony. Politicians, governments and celebrities.... It all links up and contributes together.

I am so in love with my Coat stand... it's green and looks sort of like a tree... the brand is called George and I just thought that name would be perfect for it... (Yes I'm mad like a hatter...) and today I let George hold my gorgeous and very feminine summer hat and within seconds I had renamed him Madam George...
My apartment just feels way more homey when I can personify that cute coat stand...

My flat's balcony is facing the courtyard of our town's fire station. Nice. But... on the 1st of August was the Swiss national day and some firemen had the wonderful idea to make hand made fireworks... It exploded way way way louder than they had inteded it (Jesus was that a bang!! ) and the shock wave was so strong that a window was breaking in (not in my flat) and several people had to go to the hospital because they feared that they had a hearing damage... I just don't know if I should trust these firemen anymore... LOL

OMG ZOMBZ!!! Aren't these guys supposed to be responsible?!?! Just because they are firemen doesn't mean they can abuse their position by thinking they know better about dangerous explosives "ahhh it's alright because if anything goes wrong we'll just hose it down" tut tut! *singing voice * They are going to get in trouble!

I'm getting a bit tired of these bills that were in my mailbox when I moved in, meant for the girl who lived here before me... when I wrote on each envelope that she had moved and sent them off again they returned the next day... They're now in my bin... Ugh, I wish people would just pay their bills when they moved

so I think I want to do a crossover fan fiction between Red Eye and Inception with my Red Eye dream that I had awhile back; I don't know, I've been having a CM movie day and I just want to write anything and everything!

Although not at all a sports fan, the Olympic Games made me think of this animation I once watched as a child. Quite liked it I have to admit! And still I think it's not half bad, quite funny and well animated, original, creative, and the soundtrack is very catchy. (Oh and the same direcotor as Tron and producer of Tron: Legacy LOL) I recently watched the whole movie. LOL These ideas !! I remember as a young girl I really liked the love story between the goat and the lioness. So cute!

Eating disorders suck, how they take over your life, decide your mood... I wish I was stronger, I really do... but it's such a vicious circle... I get stressed, I eat way too much, I end up sobbing about what a useless wreck I am...
I am so close to staying in bed all day tomorrow, call in sick at my new school but I know I can't do that... and if I do, then what will I do? eat because I'm bored and miserable and what will that get me? Maybe I should just jump out the window, but that wouldn't be fair to the other people who live here...
I hate when I get like this, and now I don't even have a dog or a cat to make it all go away...

Today I had a charity appeal in my letter box. And usually I don't really look at them (I have not enough money to spend and, to be honest, I think supporting poor people is the "duty" of those who are having wayyyy too much... but that's just my personal opinion) But this time I was opening the letter and reading the info. It was nothing unusual or particularly "heart-breaking" or shocking, just an appeal to raise money to enable poor people access to potable water. And somehow, the simple fact that there are people on this earth who don't even have water, something we can have so easily by just turning on the water valve, suddenly made me extremely sad ... I was holding that letter and was asking myself: What can I do for you? I can do nothing... just nothing. And the sheer realization that I can do nothing for them made me even sadder. But of course I know that only being "sad" about the situation of third world people is actually nothing but a "luxury" and maybe also arrogance of us people in the first world... And sadness and empathy alone is not going to help them either. But I won't elaborate more on this ... That topic is already too heavy to be easily spoken about on a forum.
