He has said he likes to do both and loves doing live acting so chances are good he will be doing another play in the future. I'd love to see him in a play too! To see him act in person must be a really special experience....

Agreeing! That expression of melancholy on his face is so convincing you do just want to go hug him! I experienced the same thing when watching him at times in Disco Pigs/Edge of Love (lol!). He's extremely good at portraying that kind of emotion and though this is a play I've never seen - I'm sure this role he's playing is no exception!
Incidentally I've always wondered how it is actors can get themselves to look so convincingly sad/do crying scenes etc on the spur of the moment when it comes to live acting and also film acting too at times. I know a tip that's sometimes given to actors is to think of memories of real life situations that bring those emotions on - but I can imagine that it's much easier said to put that into practice than done - as know for me it wouldn't work too easily. Then again though, that's probably because I'm one of those people who get incredibly self conscious in front of a camera - and would find it hard to focus on anything else. Being an actor must require a huge amount of focus - when it comes to getting into a role me thinks!

I was in drama in High School, it was fun but I just couldn't get over my shyness. He seems pretty shy in real life, I wonder how he got past it. I was pretty good but I would get super nervous if I had to be on stage alone. Once we had to do monologues and I had mine all memorized and then I forgot the beginning and froze up until my teacher fed me my first few lines. At least it wasn't for a play it was just for class! I guess it might be something you can get over with some practice. I know what you mean Emma, it just tears my heart out when I see him cry! When I watch Disco Pigs or Edge of Love I just want to jump through the screen hold him and kiss him and tell him everything will be alright. lol His eyes are just so huge and beautiful it makes it even more heartbreaking.

I guess it might be something you can get over with some practice. Funnily enough was pretty much the same kind of thing with me Larvalee Since very young I've found acting really fascinating and liked my drama classes in high school alot - but I could never get over my shyness either and also wouldn't mind knowing how he got over it to the extent it didn't intefere with his performance. I'd be very interested to know! Although it does occur to me that some actors naturally don't feel self conscious when they're performing - because at that point they're so absorbed in being that other person they're playing that they tend to forget about it. I'm wondering if that's maybe why Cillian gives very confident performances, but isn't so confident when it comes to doing interviews and such... I know what you mean Emma, it just tears my heart out when I see him cry! Me too Larva! I have to admit that when it came to Disco Pigs I didn't actually cry, but felt myself come pretty close to it when it came to the ending. And I think I actually did cry a little, when watching him in that scene in the Edge of Love when he ends up in Caitlin and Dylan's house when he starts to really lose it. For me it was way that he starts to break down when talking to Caitlin - it really got to me. He sure knows how to do those tear jerker type scenes just right!
