Primal Fear = AMAZING performance (Sooooo believable). Also loved him in Fight Club, Rounders, AHX, 25th Hour, the Italian Job, The Illusionist, and the Painted Veil. He's a great actor; definitely my favorite next to Mr. Murphy.
If I had to pick his BEST performances, I'd say Primal Fear, Fight Club, AHX or Rounders.

He's a great actor; definitely my favorite next to Mr. Murphy. Same here, Haley. Ed Norton definitely comes in close to Cillian Murphy for me (Cillian will always be my first love though , heheh). Eric Bana used to come in second for me, but I think Ed Norton deserves that spot more. Ed's so incredibly talented. He's so articulate and extremely intelligent. He's also so versatile. He'd dabbled in a little bit of everything... thrillers, dramas, romantic comedy, action, independent, mainstream, bad guy, good guy, producing, directing... is there anything the man can't do? I just recently watched Keeping the Faith (Ed's directorial debut), and it's not so bad. It's your typical light-hearted romantic comedy. I can definitely see Cillian in his shoes in a couple of years. I think it's actors like Ed that Cillian aspires to be like. Anyway, Ed's been acting for over a decade, and I can't believe I didn't notice him before. I haven't seen all of his films yet, but I'm definitely gonna check them out. Does anybody have any recommendations? What are some of his not so good films? I've seen Primal Fear, Fight Club, Red Dragon, Keeping the Faith, Kingdom of Heaven, The Illusionist, and the Painted Veil. I'm probably gonna watch Fight Club again because it's been a long time since I've seen it. I remember that it was good, but I don't remember all of the details. This fangirl has got it bad.

It's hard to watch, but it's worth it.

Thanks for the recommendation, Haley. I've heard that AHX is pretty violent, and doesn't Ed's character get raped in prison, too? Sounds awful. It would definitely be difficult to watch. Sounds like it's going to be one intense movie, but I'll watch it since it's supposed to be one of his greatest roles.

The whole subject matter is very unnerving and there are a lot of disturbing scenes. I've seen the movie like 10 times, and there are still some scenes I can't bring myself to watching. but if you want to see his Oscar-nominated performance, you should definitely watch it!

I just watched Fight Club again. I’ve watched it before a long time ago, but I hardly remember a thing - other than the ending. Wow, was it a freaking acid trip. It was awesome. Crazy, violent, dark, stylish, and HILARIOUS at the same time. I loved the many quirky lines throughout the movie – Ed delivered his lines perfectly. This was one of his earlier roles (he looked so young!) but undoubtedly one of his best roles. Period. Brad may have been the headliner for the movie, but Ed definitely stole the show. Gah. He’s so hot… even when he’s making expressions like this (or maybe because he makes these expressions): Screencaps courtesy of EdwardNorton.net Is it possible for me to love him even more?

oh I looove Edward Norton, hes sooo talented, i've never seen him in anything bad. Fight Club was an amazing movie all around. I loved the story, the acting and the music The Dust Brothers created a pretty awesome soundtrack for Fight Club. Even though the movie was from almost a decade ago, the music sounded pretty modern. I loved it. That's what everyone tells me. I can't decide whether to see AHX first or 25th Hour (I heard that was pretty good, too), but I'll probably see AHX first. He was nominated for an Oscar for that role, so it has to be good. And you're right, he's been consistently great in all his movies so far. I just saw Death to Smoochy recently. I wasn't expecting it to be all that great because of the bad reviews from critics, but surprisingly, I was quite amused by it. Ed was so funny in it! I think the only Ed role that I wasn't really impressed with was his role in The Italian Job. I know he was supposed to be the main bad guy, but to me it just seemed like a filler role. He didn't seem like he was really in to it. Supposedly, he was forced to take the role or face litigation. He did the best he could, I guess. Oh, I have so much more Ed movies to go through! Next is probably gonna be AHX then 25th Hour then maybe Down in the Valley ... The Score, Rounders... And there's also that new movie coming out next month with Colin Farrell, Pride & Glory. He doesn't look his best for that movie, but oh well. I'm still excited anyway. ;D Sorry for this long rant. Nobody has to reply back or anything. It's mostly because I felt like going on about Ed... sorry.

Rukia! I finally saw the Painted Veil! It was really good, I liked it a lot but not what I was expecting. I assumed it was going to be a more traditional love story and that Ed wasn't going to be such a jerk! He had every right to be though, really. I really like how the relationship between Ed and Naomi ended up though and the ending was soooo sad! I have also seen Ed in Fight Club, Death to Smoochy, AHX, and the Illusionist (at least that is all I can remember). AHX was amazing and he was remarkable but I think I like him best in Fight Club and Death to Smoochy, I loooooved DTS, he is so hysterical in it. The Illusionist wasn't that great of a film but he was still good in it. I think his character in The Painted Veil is my least favorite role he has played, of what I have seen, but that is only because I was expecting him to be perfectly nice and sweet like he is in so many of his films haha. Still a really beautiful film though and I am really glad I finally saw it! You should definitely see AHX, it is definitely violent and disturbing at times but the film really shows Ed's acting talents and strengths, he is truly remarkable in it. He should have won the Oscar for his role in it for sure, I wonder who/what beat him, it had to have been pretty freaking amazing to beat him in AHX! Ohmygosh! I just remembered I have seen Ed in Keeping the Faith too! It is a really funny comedy, they show it on Comedy Central in the US sometimes too, that is where I saw it. It is not the best film, definitely not going to be nominated for an Oscar but it was still funny and cute. Ben Stiller is in it. You should see that for a young and fun Ed Norton, I think you will like it a lot, have you heard of it? That is a good lookin man!

Yay! I'm glad you finally saw The Painted Veil. I didn't expect to like it so much either. Honestly, I just picked it up randomly at the video store. I'm glad you liked it though - probably not as much as me - I have to admit that I'm a bit obsessed about it. I dare say I like it a tad better than Atonement even. *waits for kaatopp's angry rebuttal* Don't be mad! I don't why I was so touched by The Painted Veil. It's such a lovely movie. I love everything about it. Such nuanced but powerful performances by Ed & Naomi. Not to mention the stunning cinematography. And Desplat's beautiful score! Anyway, I'm definitely gonna check out AHX this weekend. I'm a bit scared to watch it because everyone's told me that it's really violent and all, but I can't miss out out this performance! I'm glad you liked DTS, too! It definitely shows that Ed has a knack for comedy. And yes, I have seen Keeping the Faith! It's your typical, cute romantic comedy. Ed looks so young in it! And BLONDE! Has he been blonde before? I think in Red Dragon, but I don't remember diddly about Ed in that movie for some reason. Anyway, it was Ed's directorial debut in KTF, and it was a good effort on his part. Thanks for the Ed picture! I just love his crinkly blue eyes and crookedy smile.

Don't be too worried about seeing AHX, just watch a more light hearted Ed film afterward! Have you seen the Illusionist? Its actually is not bad, its just not the most amazing film in the world. Its more of a drama/romance, but it does not have a horribly tragic ending or anything (at least I'm pretty sure it doesnt!) .... I think it might be a nice thing to recover with. TPV was definitely wonderful, and I am not mad that you like it a bit more than Atonement, haha. I understand, you are passionate about Ed and I am passionate about James Both are great romantic tragedies! I feel like I have seen Ed with blonde hair before, but it really just might be KTF haha ... who knows, I think it is cute though!!

I feel like I have seen Ed with blonde hair before, but it really just might be KTF haha ... who knows, I think it is cute though!! He's been blonde in Red Dragon and Keeping the Faith: And since I kinda jumped in in the middle of all this, I love Fight Club (one of my favorites) and want to see AHX, but the stupid Blockbuster around here never has it.

Thanks for the pic, quackattack, and welcome to the forum! Ed looks okay blonde, but I think he looks best with short brown hair and with a tiny bit of roughage on his face - like in Fight Club and The Painted Veil . So hot! ;D I don't mind him with a beard all that much; it's just not my favorite look of his. The full beard's a lot better than some wimpy little mustache like he had in The Italian Job- ugh. My least favorite look of his was when he had this longish wavy hair back in 2003: wireimage.com/SearchResults.aspx?igi=27858&s=edward%20norton&sfld=C&vwmd=eHe was younger then, but the hair totally aged him. Ugh. Okay, sorry, I had my Ed rant for today. Anyway, you really should see AHX if you get a chance. I couldn't find it at my video store either, but I found another means of getting it. I'll PM you to let you know. It was a good movie. It was disturbing though - I couldn't get myself to watch the scene along the curb and that particular prison scene. For the prison scene, I think I skipped the whole duration of him in prison. AHX was definitely one of his stronger performances. It's not my favorite role of his though because his character was such a terrible and despicable person in the beginning. I truly did not like him, and I feel bad because I know in real life, Ed's like the complete opposite from him. It just shows that Ed can totally immerse himself in role. I agree with you, kaatopp, I definitely liked his role in Fight Club better. And yes, I've seen The Illusionist already. I liked it much better than The Prestige which was another magician movie released that year. It wasn't the best movie ever, but I did like the good twist at the end. I didn't expect it.

Wow, Rukia! You are REALLY right, the longer wavy hair reallllly ages him, its awful! He looks so much better with shorter hair!
Glad you finally got to see AHX, but sorry it disturbed you so! I don't know, it was obviously disturbing and hard to watch but I didn't have problems watching the gruesome scenes, I didn't have to skip anything. This might sound awful, but I thought the curb scene was awesome. Awesome in a really horrible, I can't believe this is happening, and this is captured on film really well, way. Really insane violence is obviously horrible but on film it is different for me and I can watch it in a more objective way ... but I understand, some violence is just too much and pretty much everyone says that is the case with AHX.

I actually didn't totally skip the curb scene. I saw that he told the guy to open his mouth and put it against the curb. Then I knew what he was going to do, and I screamed and closed my eyes. I heard the crack but didn't see anything because I was too busy screaming. I'm a chicken, I know. I just saw 25th Hour. Ed was very good in this role - his soliloquy in the bathroom was brilliant. Overall, the movie was pretty good. It was very "talky", but it had a nice, crisp script, so it worked.
