So it's late October now, and the leaves are changing, and the chilly weather is arriving, and the footballs are out, and it's a good season to come inside on a blustery Sunday afternoon and watch a good movie that's sympathetic to the climate change ~ But I was thinking about it and couldn't come up with that many movies that deal with the fall. Sure, there are movies with the season in the title: Autumn Sonata, Autumn Leaves, Cheyenne Autumn, Autumn in New York, An Autumn Afternoon. And there are lots of films about football, which generally fits into the category, and there are lots of Halloween flicks.
What I want to come up with is a list of the films that best represent the season either in a visual sense or in theme. Let me start by throwing an obvious one out there: Far From Heaven.
What are your favorite fall films?

This is probably a dumb choice, but when I think autumn, I think of the 1990 film of Cyrano de Bergerac with Gerard Depardieu. Two of the most memorable scenes take place in autumn, and the whole tone of the film is autumnal and faded.

Definitely You've Got Mail. This movie just says autumn to me - something about it just makes me want to put on a fuzzy sweater and settle down with a steaming mug of tea. I love when Tom Hanks says he'd give Meg Ryan a bouquet of sharpened pencils.
