You Pick the Batman Cast

Ever since I saw the trailer for the Dark Knight, I got really excited about Batman again. I really like Christopher Nolan's picks for all the current characters, so I got inspired to come up with a list of who I think should be cast as the characters in the next Batman movie. Hopefully, Christopher Nolan's directing again - I like his vision.

I am not a strong follower of the Batman comics, so I was surprised to see that Batman had so many enemies. (Go here for the list of Batman enemies: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Batman_enemies) Anyway, I just picked for the characters I was familiar with, and here's my list:


1. Mr. Freeze – Paul Bettany
2. Catwoman – Eva Green
3. Poison Ivy – Rachel McAdams
4. The Riddler – Adrien Brody (I thought of Wes Bentley and Michael Pitt at first, but they didn't seem to fit.)
5. Harley Quinn – Sienna Miller, Kirsten Dunst??
6. Penguin - ?? (All I can see see Danny Devito, and it's not a pretty picture... )
7. Robin (I know he's not Batman's enemy, but he was the only other character I'd recognized ) – James McAvoy?? (Can't really see him in such a cheesy Robin costume... )

I would love to hear of you guys' choices!

Nightwing - Milo Ventimiglia (he's expressed interest in that role)
Catwoman - Eva Green, yes!
The Riddler - If Anthony Michael Hall's character is becoming him, then yes. If not, perhaps Zachary Quinto?
Penguin - Phillip Seymour Hoffman
Poison Ivy - Rachel McAdams or Rachel Kimsey

oh it's funny I just wrote a blog about something related to this on myspace Jack Vs. Heath lol and it just goes on with the difference in the two.

anyway my cast would be

Catwoman (Sean young)
Harley Quinn (Reese Witherspoon or Amy Smart)
The Riddler (Edward Norton)
Two-face (Kevin Bacon)
Poison Ivy( I don't want to say it but she would be perfect. Angelina Jolie just after looking at the comic book picture)
Mr. Freeze( this was is kind of hard maybe Vin diesel? don't know)

Thanks for playing along guys! Kizuna, I see you're a huge Heroes fan, huh? Good pick on Penguin! I can't believe I didn't think of him. Shorty, I liked your choices, too - especially Angelina Jolie as Poison Ivy. She'd definitely sizzle onscreen as Poison Ivy.

Oh, just wanted to add that there's been rumors of Eddie Murphy being Riddler, Shia LeBouf being Robin, and Rachel Weisz being Catwoman in the next Batman. WTF in regards to Eddie and Shia?! I don't think it's true (at least I hope it's not) because with those two, it's going to make the franchise all gimmicky again. I hope it's true about Rachel Weisz though. I think she's a great pick, and I don't know why I didn't think of her before.

That report of Eddie Murphy and Shia Lebouf in the cast is complete BS spewed from an idiotic British tabloid (all of many are worse than their American counterparts). Christopher Nolan hasn't even gotten to detailing plot, so it's not even a guarantee that Riddler and Catwoman are even going to be the villains for the next movie, let alone getting a cast for this.

Another thing that makes that "article" even less credible is the whole thing of Shia Lebouf being Robin. Nolan has stated that Robin's not going to be a part of this story; it's Batman's origins, so Robin will still have been in diapers (figurtively than literally, but still).

I really won't take what those "sites" would say very seriously. I mean, they claimed a while ago that Megan Fox would play Wonder Woman, but that was quickly proven to be a hoax.

Anyway, I have some modifications to add.

Riddler: David Tennant or Casey Affleck
Harley Quinn: Kristen Bell
Mr Freeze: Ed Harris
Deadshot: Viggo Mortensen?

Thanks for the info. I was highly skeptical, and I didn't really believe it anyway, but I just felt like putting it out there. Christopher Nolan wouldn't cast Eddie nor Shia. It would be a total joke. I still think Rachel Weisz would be a good pick though, but we'll have to see.

Oooh, and I really like your picks! Especially Casey and Viggo. I especially love Casey! I've only seen him in The Last Kiss, The Assassination of Jesse James, and the Ocean movies, but I really love him. I like him so much better than his brother, Ben. He's a great actor and so cute, too. I heard he's attached to be in David Fincher's next movie, Ness (or Torso), and I hope it's true! Matt Damon and Rachel McAdams are also rumored to be in it, too. Gosh, I'm a fan of Fincher, and it'll be dream come true with this cast.

Thanks for the feedback, rukia! I just have so much fun looking at characters and the potential actors who can best embody them.

Anyway, I just had an epiphany and realized that either Christina Hendricks or Tricia Helfer (yeah, you can so tell I'm a huge fan of hers ) would be more than kickass for Poison Ivy. But to be honest, I really have a hard time visualing her working in Nolan's realism-grounded universe. Still...
