Oh Man, you HAVE to see Atonement stat! I LOVED it, I saw it twice in theater and own it now too. The acting, music, cinematography, the scenery, everything was beautiful. I don't know who you've heard conflicting reports from but I've only ever heard good reviews so ignore the naysayers, haha It is definitely worth checking out!! Here, let me see if I can do some visual coaxing ... some images from Atonement that I have handy! If you think you like James clean shaven then Atonement is definitely the movie for you.

I don't know who you've heard conflicting reports from but I've only ever heard good reviews so ignore the naysayers, haha I agree, Atonement was gorgeous. I believe the problem some critics had was the ending scene at the beach cottage, but I thought it totally made since, especially since the whole theme was ATONEMENT and she wanted to give them their happiness back and right all the wrongs! I love James McAvoy!!! Especially in Becoming Jane! I also like Jim Sturgess, but I don't think I'll like the plot of 21, since I'm not interested in casinos, vegas, etc... but it may be worth it just to look at Jim!

Yay another fan! How exciting.
James is to die for in Becoming Jane, even with silly hair and clothes he is good looking!
Puggems, did you read the book Atonement? I read it first, then saw the film. I understand what you are saying about the end, all I know is, I liked the ending in the film better than the ending in the book (very similar just edited out a somewhat unnecessary (in my opinion) scene from the book).
So really, if reviewers want to fault the ending they have to fault the author of the book because the film was nearly identical to the book, the director was just doing his job and I think he did it really well. He took a beautiful book and gave beautiful sound and scenery to an amazing love story.

No, I haven't read the book Atonement because I have a stack of books I'm reading, but I am planning on buying it in the very near future. I think the whole plot is so heart-wrenchingly tragic and the writer is brilliant for it.
(Becoming Jane) I love his hair and clothes; I like period pieces...

Thanks kaatop! I am planning on renting it as soon as all my AP testing is done. (I'm afraid this list is getting pretty long ) It was just a couple of my friends and teammates who talked about how they didn't like it. Those pics were definately more than the nudge I needed to see it. (I like when his hair is messy )

I agree with kaatopp - definitely see Atonement, bookworm. Gorgeous movie. Joe Wright stayed true to Ian McEwan's incredible novel, and it was everything I could ever ask for in a perfect period film.

Amen Rukia! haha, thank you for the support.
I may mistake saying this but I am basically 100% sure that you will love the movie. I am sort of biased in my obsession for James but the movie is just so beautiful and well filmed and acted on every level, (its not just James that is stunning in it!) that I think you will really enjoy it! I am excited to hear what you think of it, please share all the details!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAMES MCAVOY!!!!!! Our James is 29 years old today, April 21st 2008! (a few hours early in the states but his birthday by now across the ocean!) WOW! What a sexy birthday boy ... that image should appeal to you bookworm! Clean-shaven and messy hair, gahh, how cute are they!!? look at his AMAZING smile and blue eyes! I think I am just as much in love with Anne Marie Duff as I am with James, haha, I think she is so beautiful! they are so sweet together! In new James news, according to IMDB, he is going to be in the new film The Last Station, apparently his lady, Anne Marie Duff, is going to be in it too, I don't know much about it and I haven't done any extra internet research on it, but IMDB says, "A historical drama that illustrates Russian author Leo Tolstoy's struggle to balance fame and wealth with his commitment to a life devoid of material things." Paul Giamatti, along with Helen Mirren, are in it too. Christopher Plummer (who I am not very familiar with) is to play Leo Tolstoy. James is to play Valentin Bulgakov and Anne Marie is to play Sasha Tolstoy. Big stars like Giamatti and Mirren bode well for the film being a success (or at least popular!?) ... I'm very excited and I hope lots new information comes out soon! I can't wait till June for Wanted (even though June is approaching quite quickly!) That concludes my birthday festivities for James, not very exciting for him I suppose but exciting to me! Again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAMES! I really hope he has a splendid day!

Hahah, I thought you would like that photo bookworm! It makes me feel weak in the knees haha. These are from the same magazine spread ... I think Glamour, but I could be wrong. I LOVE his hair like this! I think these were taken either during or right after Atonement, before he grew all his scruff back (which I can't pretend I don't LOVE), but there is something about his cleaned up look that really makes my jaw drop ... Oooh I hope you see Atonement soon bookworm!

Me too! I only have, 2.5 more weeks untill I will be free from this AP nightmare. Atonement has moved up to one of the top spots on my "need to watch now that I have time" list. Those pics are loverly, thanks much! And I have to admit, the clean shaven look is my favorite, ( I agree with the whole weak knees thing) but the scruffy James is beginning to grow on me.

As the unofficial James McAvoy ambassador I would like to welcome a new member to our board, Cosmickeetan, a good friend and confidant of mine who shares deeply in our Cillian Murphy and James McAvoy love! I would also like to thank Cosmickeetan for making my newest James icon! Now for celebratory photos! This is probably my new favorite photo of James and is now currently my desktop background!! Ahh, so sexy and he knows it, you can tell by that smirk!
