The book's been out for a while, so I am sure there's been posted a thread about it in past.. Bear with me, if so. I had never read the book, it just came to my mind to collect some reviews/comments from the ones of you who' ve already read it. do you think it's worth reading?

Yes it's worth reading. I've read it several times and will read it again.
I read it first after seeing the movie, and it made me understand the movie better. You get of course much more information about everything (especially about what's going on in Griets mind) but it's basicly the same story. No changes.
I especially like the language and the descriptions. It's very poetic and really paint pictures.

I just got the book from the library and once I don't have 5 million other things to read, I will get to it. And then I can do a rinky dinky review.
I have read another of Tracy Chevalier's books, Girl in Hyacinth Blue, and while I liked most of it, I thought parts of it were a bit pretentious.

I saw the movie before I read the book. I much preferred the book to the movie, it's very well written and very descriptive. The book is an easy read, it was hard to put down and I read it in two nights. I recently lent the book to a friend who had never seen the movie and she liked it so much she borrowed the movie.

I read the book before I saw the movie -- and I prefred the book. In fairness, I think it was a hard to to translate to the screen, since a lot of the book was seen through Griet's eyes. Well worth the read, I really enjoyed it.

I saw the movie before I read the book but I didnt really pay attention to the movie, and then I read the book this summer and resaw the movie (and payed attention this time), and I liked the book better than the movie as well. I loved the book.
