Beverly Hills, CA — Actress Rachel McAdams will present the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Scientific and Technical Awards on Saturday, February 18, at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
McAdams, who currently stars in the romantic comedy "The Family Stone," made her film debut in “Perfect Pie” which was based on a work by Canadian playwright Judith Thompson. Her filmography includes roles in "Mean Girls," "The Notebook," "Red Eye" and the 2005 summer hit "Wedding Crashers."
Among the nineteen awards bestowed during the ceremony, McAdams will present the Academy's Gordon E. Sawyer Award, an Oscar® statuette, to Gary Demos for his lifetime of technological contributions to the industry.
Segments of the Scientific and Technical Awards presentation will be broadcast during the 78th Academy Awards®.
The Scientific and Technical Awards are presented by the Academy for devices, methods, formulas, discoveries or inventions of special and outstanding value to the arts of sciences of motion pictures.
Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements for 2005 will be presented on March 5, 2006, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland, and televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. PST. A one-hour red carpet arrivals show will precede the telecast at 4 p.m. PST.
