I write short stories for fun...I was just wondering if anyone knows of any free websites or forums where you can post and read stories and like get feedback? Kind of like fictionpress, but smaller. And not like fan-fictions for anything...just, original works?
Thanks!!!

There was a place I went to called stories.com but now I think it's called writing.com, and you have a large selection of what type of stories you want to write - novellas, short stores, prose, poetry etc. Maybe try there?

I checked out fanfiction.net and do know there are already a couple of short fics up on Dr. Crane? Looks like he made a big impact ... in fact there's more of him than any other Batman bad guy it seems. *grins* www.fanfiction.net/l/2058/3/0/1/1/0/0/0/1/

Wow. I just read one about Rachel and Dr. Crane. Quite well written so far, but it seemed a bit rushed into it, it was like, "Nice to meet you Dr. Crane. Oh, I just realised that I'm attracted to you." But still good Maybe I'm picky because I know that Dr. Crane wouldn't be as sweet as he was in the story. Hmmph. If only.

Well, a read a few other stories on there where he is creepy and disturbing ... closer in character to "Batman Begins" Dr. Crane/Scarecrow. Yeah, that is an unplausible scenario.

I guess this just my "take" on Dr. Crane, but I think he is a sexual being, but has learned to repress it and build a shell around himself because he has been hurt and as a means to become less vulnerable. Over time, to replace this need for intimacy and the thrill associated with sexuality, he replaces with the thrill of (twisted as it is) seeing others being afraid of him ... those who normally would try to overpower him. So his sexuality has gotten twisted into something perverted/evil over time.

Hmm. Well, the moderators are welcome to clarify policies and all. I've always thought that intelligent, adult discussion (as long as it isn't explicit/smutty) is accepted here.

Noted. Heres what I was able to glean from the use of "PG 13" as a rating for here: PG-13 Parents Strongly Cautioned - Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. Signifies that the film rated may be inappropriate for pre-teens. Parents should be especially careful about letting their younger children attend. Rough or persistent violence is absent; sexually oriented nudity is generally absent; some scenes of drug use may be seen; some use of one of the harsher sexually-derived words may be heard. Woohoo, we can talk about DRUGS! Well, since Dr. Crane is a psychiatrist I'd think that was a must.

So his sexuality has gotten twisted into something perverted/evil over time. I agree with you, (and relate personally to the situation you've described). I suppose I didn't word things correctly - He's not sexual in the typical romance story "Hello, we're attracted to each other" type way. I haven't bothered to read the story about he and Rachael (I'm really trying to avoid disappointments, hence haven't read any of them yet) so I'm just blowing hot air since I only have what I gleaned from the previous post about it, but in general I notice that fanfic tends to put people like Crane into overty Fabio-esque positions and I find that type of stuff disappointing. I'm really new here and I don't know that we're allowed to be talking about this sex stuff Thanks for clarifying what I should have said in the first place. I'm just really leary about crossing the line around here, I'm not exactly used to being asked to behave. I'm also hesitant to read fanfiction for that reason. As a writer, I need harmony in charaacter and plot. Dr. Crane is definitely not the kind of person who would be adept at flirting and that sort of thing. Also, I don't think he would be fazed by beauty. Think about it, he's been rejected by beauty all his life. I'm sure he associates beauty with being hurt, with people thinking they are better than everyone else (cheerleader syndrome ). Most likely he would be attracted to someone who had no idea they were attractive, the kind of woman who is more interested in books than in makeup.
