I recently started listening to Kings of Leon. They are so amazing! They are the ultimate definition of rock n' roll -- sexy, hot, and rockin'! I especially loooove "Use Somebody" and "Sex On Fire." I have those songs on repeat. Can't get enough of them. Any other recommendations?

Personally i think the newest album-'Only By The Night' is their worst so far. It's good on it's own but when i compare it to their others i don't think it's as good-not as rockin and it's more mainstream or something- like my sister didn't like any of their other albums but she loves this one. 'Aha Shake Heartbreak' is their best album to me and it's the most old style pure rock'n'roll of them all. Short, loud songs with great riffs and the bass makes all the songs. Plus Caleb sang slightly differently back then and i liked it better, i miss it! So yeah i recommend 'Aha Shake'. 'Because of the Times' is my second favourite album. But anyway i still love them and am going to see them in December. One helluva talented family. And one good gene pool!

Hi, Razz. I've been listening to a couple of tracks off of Aha Shake Heartbreak. You're right. Their sound and style are completely different from their new album. Their new one's definitely more mainstream sounding, but I like songs from both albums. So far from Aha, I like "Slow Night So Long," "King of the Rodeo," "Taper Jean Girl," and "Soft." Did you know that Cillian likes them, too? I was reading the Blender article back from 2005 (go here), and Cillian lists Aha Shake Heartbreak as one of his favorite albums. I just find that to be so awesome!!

I just heard Kings of Leon today for the first time- it was "Sex on Fire" and, even though it seems common consensus amongst the forum members here that their new stuff isn't very good, I liked the song right away. The singer sounds a little like Peter Gabriel, which was a plus for me immediately. LOL.
Looks like I need to listen to the older stuff!

I just find that to be so awesome!! Yeah i heard someone mention that a little while ago. Or maybe that was MGMT...I can't really remember. That's cool though- he has good taste to pick Aha as their best. I agree heartily! Those are all breat songs you've listed-others off that album that i love are Razz, Pistol of Fire, Day Old Blues and Milk. And then Four Kicks and The Bucket were the two singles from it. Also great rock songs! And Pisces it's not that there's anything wrong with the newer stuff but if you've been a fan from the start then you've watched them change and it just seems so different to what they started out as. Obviously it has changed- when they started they were really a cult band with a small following playing in really small venues. Then they started to get big over in UK and Ireland and playing bigger venues they started to write songs that suit bigger venues like that. I still love all their stuff but for me and most old time fans Aha Shake is picked as their best. It's a lot less produced and more raw rock'n'roll sound than The new one Only By The Night. They're just growing and becoming more popular so they have to adapt their music to that i suppose. I'll stick by them no matter what and i'm so happy they're doing so well now. They're even beginning to get recognition in the US now, where they have never been famous before really despite being from there! And Caleb has an amazin voice-so husky and beautiful.

Razzthekid- could you give me a little shove toward their best older songs? Then I can go on Rhapsody and have a listen and maybe download a few. I thought about doing this anyway but need a starting point, lol- there's a LOT of songs on there.

Sure My personal favourites would be: From their first album 'Youth and Young Manhood'- ~Holy Roller Novocaine ~Trani ~Genius ~Spiral Staircase The singles from that album were Molly's Chambers and California Waiting which are both really good too. From 'Aha Shake Heartbreak'- ~King of the Rodeo ~Pistol of Fire ~Razz(one of my overall favourites hence my username! ) ~Milk The singles from it were King Of the Rodeo, The Bucket and Four Kicks. All brilliant songs. From 'Because of the Times'- ~Knocked Up ~Black Thumbnail ~True Love Way ~The Runner ~Arizona The singles from it were Charmer(class!), On Call, Ragoo and Fans. All worth downloading i'd say! From the newest album, 'Only by the Night'- ~Closer ~Crawl ~Manhattan ~Be Somebody ~Cold Desert The singles from it are Sex on Fire and Use Somebody. Great singles. Hope that helps get you started a bit anyway!

razzthekid- THANK YOU for compiling this list - looks like I will be spending quite some time on Rhapsody later! I also appreciate that you distinguished between your personal fave and the singles released off each album. Very often, I have chosen favorites from a CD that were not the singles, as well. So- thank you!
A wonderful new song crossed my ears a couple weeks ago, by a band called Glasvegas- the song is Geraldine. Really good stuff.
