They really have left out a lot of tracks, but I'm so happy they're going to include Gavin Friday's version of Wig Wam Bam and the song he and Cill sang together. I can't wait to get this soundtrack now!! At least I have the other tracks that they're missing from the official soundtrack downloaded already.

Random - why do "they" always (seemingly) issue different versions for America? The same was done for the HP books. Wah.

The American edition looks like the American poster www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CCD080/002-2315393-2704869?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=5174and the price is now reduced to $13.98 (25% off the original price). I may cancel my order and re-order, again, for the discount...then again, sometimes they give you a credit for the amount they've taken off. So when I ordered the latest Harry Potter, I got a $1 refund because they reduced the price at the last minute. The American edition does list both Gavin and Cillian; I'm guessing it's just an error, since the song is definitely a duet. I really wish they'd gone with the original description of a 2-disc set, but maybe they think it's more likely to sell as a single disc. Who knows what goes on in the minds of the marketing people? Or the execs who approve what the marketing people do, I suppose.

It's fantastic to hear the whole song, instead of just a little bit. I'm still amazed at Cillian's "female" singing voice. It's not fair; he not only looks gorgeous as a man or a woman, but he sounds terrific singing as a man or a woman. I'd say it's worth buying the soundtrack just for that track, though I like about half of the others. I still wish they'd have made a 2-disc set. I'd have bought it!
BTW, the dog's tail is "waggly," not "waggedy," so take *that*, dear Sir Unseen! In a little bit I'll type out the paragraph Neil Jordan wrote for the liner notes, explaining the choices for the overall soundtrack.

I'm dying to have the copy of "Wig Wam Bam" from Gavin Friday too and of course, "Sand". *sigh* Stupid car repairs took my money for this cd, so hopefully in a couple weeks I'll get this. I'd love to see the liner notes from Jordan, thanks if you can type them out stormy.

Here are the liner notes from Neil Jordan (capitalizations his):
BREAKFAST ON PLUTO is a film about a character, Kitten, who's constructed by another character, Patrick, one female, one male and both want to live within the lyrics of a popular song. So to construct the soundtrack to the film, I had to let the character choose them, so to speak, and the choices were never the obvious ones. The period is the early seventies, yet there is no DAVID BOWIE, no LED ZEPPELIN, no JOHN LENNON, and not only because we couldn't afford them (the budget was, as always, tight). Kitten demanded something more specific, the boyish soprano of HARRY NILSSON, the saccharine of BOBBY GOLDSBORO, the longing of BILLY PAUL, the Belfast soul of VAN MORRISON, the tremolo excess of THE RUBETTES. An alternative version of the early seventies, before the disco explosion, where every song wore its heart on its sleeve, and that heart was a purple one. - NEIL JORDAN -
