Mean Girls 8/10 I just watched it again a few nights ago (I'd watched it already when it first came out in theaters). It's one of my favorite comedies. It's quite smart and witty for a teen comedy. Tina Fey's screenplay was brilliant and so funny! Lindsay Lohan was good in her role as Cady. She really had potential in being a great actress back then... too bad she's so messed up now. Rachel McAdams was amazing, of course. It was the first movie I'd watched from her, and I didn't even recognize her in The Notebook and Red Eye until some time later. She's so versatile in her roles; she's a great character actress. Dangerous Liaisons (1988) 7.8/10 I enjoyed it. It had the aspects of a good period piece (great cinematography, beautiful costumes, etc) with a touch of smirking, cynical humor bought on especially by John Malkovich's character, Valmont. I don't know if it was intentional, but he was soo funny at times (I cracked up when he hissed at Madame de Volanges). The movie was overall quite good due to the excellent casting choices. Glenn Close was positively vicious as Madame Merteuil. John was great as Valmont -- the self-assured, full of crap, smooth talking, sly bastard. I was so surprised by Michelle Pfeiffer's performance as Madame de Tourvel! She was so refreshingly innocent and virtuous. Same with Uma Thurman -- she was sooo young then, practically a baby. And wow, so was Keanu Reeves! He had such a baby face. Well, the whole cast looked young, being that this movie was made 20 years ago. Out of everyone, I thought Keanu was a bit miscasted (maybe because I'd never seen him in a period piece, and I always picture him as Neo all the time).

pineapple express 6/10 I usually love Judd Apatow movies, but this one seemed a bit forced. The writing was very scripted and not as funny as I thought it would be. Seth Rogen was pretty good, but I think James Franco over acted a little. And the final scene was way too long, I thought the movie would never end. It wasn't bad, but I was expecting a lot more!

^ Shame to hear. I have heard a lot of mixed reviews. My friends really enjoyed it because they are either stoners or enjoy stoner humor so they thought the movie was great fun, obviously a bit dumb in a way, but funny all the same.
At the same time I have heard bad reviews for bad script and cheesy stunts (although I think that was intended, but I dont know for sure, I haven't seen it yet). I can't really imagine Ebert and Roeper thinking a movie all about weed is too great, lol. I am hoping to see it one day, hopefully I'll like it. I liked Superbad but it wasn't as good as I thought it should have been. I was hoping Pineapple Express would be better.
As far as James Franco goes I heard he played an awesome stoner. Who knows, I guess I just need to see it!

Eastern Promises7.5-8/10 This was a great movie with a great story and incredible acting. I have wanted to see it for a long time. Viggo Mortensen was awesome in it and of course Naomi Watts was fantastic too. They had a lot of chemistry and I wish there had been a lot more chemistry between them, if you know what I'm saying, lol . Something strangely sexy about Viggo in this movie. Anyway, only draw backs were I was expecting a bit more action/intensity and the ending was a bit anti-climactic but it was still a great film nonetheless. Comes well recommended. Plus there is a great naked fight scene involving Viggo, its not so much that I enjoyed it because he was naked but that it was just really awesome, he was really bad a*s in this movie! (*now that I think about it I wish there had been a naked fight scene with James McAvoy in Wanted, lol, ;D should be required of all action movies! )

Haley, that's too bad about Pineapple Express. I was looking forward to seeing it. I've been lovin' the Apatow comedies -- especially Knocked Up and Forgetting Sarah Marshall!! I'm still going to see it anyway (probably this upcoming weekend). Seth Rogen's always funny, and James Franco's a cutie! Kaatopp, I've been wanting to see Eastern Promises, but somehow I've forgotten about it. I love Naomi Watts. I'll definitely check it out soon! Anyway, I've been kind of in a romantic comedy phase... I just saw... Serendipity 7/10 I absolutely loooved it the first time that I watched it (a few years ago). I thought it was totally sweet and romantic the whole idea that if you're meant to be with someone that you'll eventually find each other. When I watched it again, this third or fourth time around, I found out that I didn't like it as much as before. I found it to be a bit too far-fetched, and John Cusack got a bit annoying after a while. The beginning segments where he and Kate Beckinsale were trying to test out fate were pretty cute though, I have to say. While You Were Sleeping 8/10 I definitely liked this one better than Serendipity. Sure, it was pretty sappy and cheesy (and far-fetched), but it was sooo sweet!! It was very, very funny, too. I loved Sandra Bullock in this one. She was so sweet and adorable that you can't help but love her character. Her character was one of those characters that you root for a happy ending for. Bill Pullman was great, too. He and Sandra had excellent chemistry. I'm lovin' these old school romantic comedies; they just don't make 'em like this anymore.

No Country for Old Men 9/10
Glad I finally saw this! I enjoyed it a lot, I really really like the Coen Brothers, the more of their movies that I watch the more I like them and the way they tell a story. This was just a great movie, done well, acted well, etc. Recommended all around.

Pineapple Express really wasn't that bad, maybe it was just me...a lot of people were laughing in the theater, so you guys will probably find it to be just as funny as Apatow's other films. It was just a lot of stupid, stoner humor, if you like that, you'll definitely love it. I dunno, I think I was just expecting A LOT more.

Ahhh 10 Things I Hate About You......i just watched that the other day too! And same here. I can watch it over and over and i still love it. So funny..... "Are you saying i'm not a pretty guy?" I love that line and the singing too!!! Awwww I cannot believe he is dead i just can't I watched the Brother's Grimm last night, Matt Damon and Heath ledger were sooooo funny! but the beginning was a bit slow i give it 7/10 Oh yeah the singing.....every time i watch that part now i'm half laughing half crying cos he's gone. Oh i love the Brother's Grimm! ;D I mean the special effects are REALLY bad and it's not the best story ever but Heath was absolutely hilarious as Jacob! ;D And adorable. Matt was funny too but Heath got the better character to play. I can't wait to see the Pineapple Express! Woo hoo James Franco in a lead role with long blonde hair!Mmm...... He's not the best actor ever but in something like this he should be good! ;D I'm not expecting loads just a fun silly comedy. It looks good to me. And i loved Knocked UP and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I love the way Apatow uses all the actors he had in Freaks and Geeks. I miss that show.....It was genius! So funny. Damn it getting cut. Primal Fear- 8.5/10 Edward was amazing as usual and the story was good. I loved the ending. And Gere was good too. I want to watch it again! Have to rent it or something and make my dad watch it. The King-9/10 I really love this movie. It made me think a lot and it's one of those ones that keeps popping into your head after you've watched it. Bernal was brilliant and i really fouind myself hating his character-he portrayed him so well! He was just so selfish and didn't think twice throughout everything. William Hurt was really good too and the story was just haunting. Really beautiful film in a weird way.

Razzthekid, I have to check out The King since I love both Gael Garcia Bernal and William Hurt, thanks for the info! I just saw Barton Fink (another Coen Brothers film) the other night. I'd give it an 8/10. I think I will pretty much always really like any Coen Bros film I watch. They know how to write a good story and tell it well. Their films are always casted and acted brilliantly, sets and everything perfect. Barton Fink was so good because of the twists in the film and John Goodman was INCREDIBLE. The more I think about the film the more I really really really like it, a lot. Wonderful movie. also watched Im July (In July) last night. It is a cute, random German film starring Moritz Bleibtreu (whom I love lol). I'd give it an 8/10. There was really nothing wrong with the movie at all, it was just a bit silly at times. Its just a good, fun and funny love story. Plus I love listening to Moritz speak auf deutsch, hehe. I'd recommend it to anyone for sure, especially if anyone wants to see a fun love story that isn't American, something just a bit different for a change, set in Germany, as well as Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria and I can't remember where else!

Razzthekid, I have to check out The King since I love both Gael Garcia Bernal and William Hurt, thanks for the info! No problem! Glad i could help! Oh and i think it's one of those films that's better if you watch without really knowing anything about it. I had read the back of the DVD ages ago and by the time i watched it i kind of forgot what it was about and it was better that way i think.
