The teaser was shown before The Dark Knight, and it looks amazing. I've read a few small parts of the original graphic novel and it's a really interesting story. youtube.com/watch?v=EgQJKh5t54I

I don't know anything about the graphic novel, but this movie sure looks interesting! And Matthew Goode's in it! He's a pretty good looking fella. I first saw him in Chasing Liberty, and although that was a pretty mediocre movie, I thought he was absolutely hot when I saw it. The only other movie I saw him in was Match Point, but that was only a bit part for him. So I don't know if he's all that great of an actor yet, but he's indeed hot, that's for sure! Patrick Wilson's a cutie, too, but I haven't seen any of his movies at all ( Hard Candy, Little Children, etc). I've heard great things about them though.

Okay, I've just read the graphic novel, and whoo boy, it was a whammy! It's probably one of the best stories I've personally seen - each character is fleshed out really well, and the story is so engrossing. I have to say that everything in the trailer looks exactly frame-by-frame accurate to the comics. Not to mention that David Hayter (aka, Solid friking Snake) penned the screenplay, which comic's author, Alan Moore, said was the closest thing to perfect there is. That makes the wait fo this movie even more exciting! ETA: Fox filed a suit against Warner Bros because they originally had the rights to the movie. I swear, if this means the movie will get pushed back or (God please don't let this happen) edited, I will file many, MANY complaints. Couldn't they have solved this BEFORE the movie began filming?!

Okay, I finally saw this today, and it was AWSOME!!! I loved the performances, especially Patrick Wilson as Nite owl and Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach. It was disturbing in places (which is to be expected, given the sorce material), but it was all in all, a great experience. I'll admit that I was really disappointed by certain things (certain pieces of the plot getting cut out, and having a radically different ending than the comic), but other than that, I was very, VERY satisfied.
I'd rate Watchmen a 8/10.

**MILD SPOILERS**
I agree with you, Kizuna, I'd give Watchmen an 8/10. It was a great movie going experience. The effects were amazing. I haven't read the comic or anything, but I thought it was a great concept to make the superheroes have flaws and imperfections. I also thought it was great how each decade of American history was changed around to go with the Watchmen universe. I loved Rorshach! He was my favorite. I also liked Dr. Manhattan. Although the Comedian was a pretty bad guy, I thought Jeffrey Dean Morgan played the character perfectly. It was hard to believe he was the same guy in P.S. I Love You. I didn't like Patrick Wilson's Nite Owl that much, I hate to say. I found him to be a bit annoying and wussy. I didn't care too much for Matthew Goode's Ozymandias either. Both Patrick and Matthew are hot, but they didn't work too much for me in this movie. The reason why I didn't give this a perfect 10/10 because it fell flat in a few areas for me. I thought the sex scene felt a bit too gratuitous and unnecessary (although I did enjoy getting a glimpse of Patrick's ass I have to admit ). The ending didn't end too well for me. It felt a bit contrived to me, and I totally foresaw who the bad guy turned out to be. I haven't read the comic, so I don't know if it was really supposed to end this way or not, but overall, Watchmen was a dynamic experience.

Well, you really need to read the graphic novel to truly get the full scope of the story and of the characters. One thing that truly disappointed me in the movie was the fact that it cut out certain parts of the backstory, particularly of the Minuetmen, the first superhero team. The plot felt sort of disjointed due to the lack of the backstory concerning them. The ending is also VERY RADICALLY different from the comic's as well, but it still did keep to somethings true.
Well, Nite Owl was a bit of a wuss in the comics. But at large, yeah, Watchmen is ultimately meant to be this big deconstruction of the superhero genre.

Thanks for your input, Kizuna. The movie was pretty gripping in of itself, but I guess nothing can beat the graphic novel. I'll have to check it out when I have time.

I thought it was just ok. It was incredibly too long. I understand that the director wanted to follow the book as closely as possible, but a number of scenes could have been trimmed.
