So my wife spends about 4 hours an evening reading about Cillian and stowing away pictures of him in folders on this computer. Can you guys help me understand this illness?!
I mean - he seems pretty cool and stuff. He's handsome, smart, down to earth, wealthy. Ok - nevermind. I'd go gay for him.

Well put it this way, she's not the only one who has a bit of an obsession over the guy lol! And that includes a few of us attached/married women on here - myself included! Welcome to the site Ben! Hope you enjoy your stay

Thanks, Emma. I notice you're at a geographical advantage. She's been trying to get me to move to England ever since I gave her a free pass on this guy. Big mistake.

lol I guess technically you could say I am. Though I still don't really live near the guy. I believe it's somewhere around North-West London he lives, whereas I'm in Surrey which is South-East London. I do visit central London from time to time, but have to say I've never run across any well known actor or any other kind of celeb figure there that I'd easily recognise (unless you count the rare occasions I've been to concerts there and even then I didn't actually meet the musicians) - and I'm pretty sure Cillian is no exception. Things like that just never seem to happen to me lol! Hehe it certainly sounds as if your wife is keen on meeting this guy - can't say that I blame her there! How long is it that you've both been fans for?

You brave soul, thanks for joining! So are you a fan of his too or just looking for insight into her madness? Without overdoing it and making you want to puke I will say you are right that he is handsome, smart, down to earth, but don't forget he's also a very talented actor. I think it's a combination of all these things that make him so addictive. I know if he was just a good looking actor but had a crap personality I wouldn't be here. Although I don't know him personally, he does seem very down to earth and smart to me too as well as very funny when he isn't feeling shy. He is very unconventional in the acting world in that he doesn't go out of his way to get attention, in fact he is the complete opposite. It is very refreshing and makes him kind of mysterious, add the most insanely intense blue eyes and unconventional good looks in the mix and you just have one addictive mysterious package. Make any sense? lol I bet my husband wonders what the big deal is too, I think he appreciates his acting but he gets pretty jealous of my obsession sometimes. At least you are taking it all with good humor and trying to understand. Oh Lord, do not under estimate a Cillian fan with a free pass! You are right that was a bad move! lol But if you ever see Breakfast on Pluto you will probably be wanting to move to England just as bad and helping her track him down so he can dress up like a woman for you! Hey whatever spices up the marriage, we won't judge! lol Hope you will still stick around after you get the answers you seek. Thanks again for posting!

Yeah, I think he's a cool guy and everything. I respect his down to earth nature. He's sort of the Richard D. James (Aphex Twin) of the acting world... A very talented person that isn't really interested in fame. But obviously my wife is the real fanatic here. So to answer your question, I'm a fan; but I'd also like to learn more about this disease.

Hmmm, my husband thinks Catherine Zeta Jones is the bee's knees, but I don't think I'll be joining a CZJ fan site anytime soon.
So is your wife joining us, Ben, or is she waiting for you to give her a free pass on that?
It's not an illness or disease that brings us here, just an appreciation of an attractive, talented man. Not difficult to understand at all.

Hmmm. A couple years? I think Sunshine is what sparked the obsession. Since then she's seen every film he's been in, regardless of how small the roll. lol! Have to say it was Batman Begins/Red Eye that initially sparked mine, but he is pretty hot imo in Sunshine too. Good for her! I've not yet seen all of his films, so far only seen about 9 of them. But definitely plan to check out more when I can also! [I'd also like to learn more about this disease. lol! Well when it comes to a person having any kind of strong interest with anyone in particlar, I think it's always going to be one of those things that's bound to be a little hard to appreciate for those who don't happen to share it to the same kind of extent for whatever reason. But I think what Larva Lee said above sums up as to why we're here (or at least the majority of us) perfectly. We find the guy to be a very talented actor with a strong charismatic screen presence, think of him as a very down to earth person (as that certainly seems to be how he comes across in alot of his interviews) and indeed it is very refreshing that he's not one of those actors who goes out of his way to seek attention. Combine that with his gorgeous looks - and there's your answer lol! I also really admire the fact that he's as versatile an actor as he is, and likes to keep tackling different types of role in different types of films. Although saying that I personally wouldn't mind seeing him play the bad boy a bit more often! ;D

I don't think Ben is seriously calling us diseased Sabine, he is just joking around. I was wondering the same thing though Ben, does your wife post here?
So what's your favorite Cillian movie Ben? So hard to pick just one so I will just say 28 Days Later, Disco Pigs, and Breakfast on Pluto.

Not difficult to understand at all. Well, Sabine; when your significant other has a celebrity crush, you have two choices: be jealous about it or embrace it. I've chosen to keep it light. Just by joining the forum I'm teasing my wife (which is always enjoyable). And it's true that I'm poking a little fun at you all - but it's all in good fun. I'm not trying to ridicule anyone. Just having a good time. I'm hoping by being here that my wife will join the forum. She reads it often but is not currently a member. Maybe you guys can help convince her to join! Larvalee: It's gotta be sunshine for me. Not a perfect movie - but I'm a sucker for sci-fi, and sci-horror.

I'm hoping by being here that my wife will join the forum. She reads it often but is not currently a member. Maybe you guys can help convince her to join! Well for one I think that'd be a cool thing if she did! Sounds as if she has much in common with many of us on here, and it's always nice to see new active members join! It'd be nice to meet her on here if she does decide to join at some stage. By the way, just for the record, I also think it's great thing that you have the kind of relationship with your wife in which you both keep things as light between you as you do. My partner - for the most part - takes a humourous approach to my crush also. And although he's not a fan of Cillian to the same extent I am, he also enjoyed his performances in 28 Days Later, Sunshine and Disco Pigs - the latter I know he especially liked. But I doubt he'd ever find the enthusiasm to join here lol, though he's fully aware that I regularly post on here. And I doubt he could necessarily handle the extent of some of my rants at times. And though I'm aware that he has a couple of celeb attractions at the mo (he's pretty into both Kylie Minogue and Sandra Bullock lol) and I also tease him about them a fair bit, it's not one of those things he really talks to me at massive length about either. So even though we're pretty open with each other when it comes to this kind of thing, we're probably not as open as maybe some couples are. But I think it's a really cool thing that you and your wife are.

I too hope your wife joins the forum, she'd be in good company and she can help keep you in line if you get to teasing us too much. Unless she's embarrassed of you for some reason..... lol I never felt you were ridiculing us, your post was pretty damn tame compared to some of the stuff that's been posted here in recent months. lol I think most of us can hold our own against a little teasing from a mutual fan. Plus I already respect you for trying to understand and becoming a fan in the process instead of being like a lot of guys who just say stupid crap like "he's so gay!" when they are jealous.
