I was browsing for new Cillian updates, and I came across this News of the World article. The movie is to directed by Danny Boyle. It says Cillian is to play the role of Aron Ralston who had to amputate his own arm when it got stuck under a boulder during a climbing trip in Utah. *shrugs* I don't know how reliable this is at all. People have been discussing it over at Danny Boyle's IMDB boards as well, and throwing names out such as Ryan Gosling, etc. Who knows if this is true or not? If it is true, I don't really know how I feel about it yet. |

Reading that little article it sounds really interesting. I hope it does go ahead and that Cillian does play the role. We all know he's brilliant at acting without dialogue so i'd love to see him doa whole hour without talking. He's so powerful just with his expressions and actions. I'm excited now so i hope it goes ahead!  |

I agree; Danny and Cillian do work well together! I don't know why I'm not more excited. Maybe because I'm not a huge fan of Sunshine, but I did really love Slumdog Millionaire! I'm crossing my fingers that this third Danny/Cillian collaboration (if it's true) will cause Oscar buzz. ;D And I agree that Cillian will be able to handle/carry a whole movie all by himself! He has such strong onscreen presence. |

I don't like all this mention of Ryan Gosling playing the role. Can't say i'm really a fan of his. I hope it's Cillian.
Someone on IMDB mentioned Emile Hirsch who i am a big fan of but it'd be very similar to his role in Into the Wild- infact i think that may be the only reason they mentioned him the first place- because he's played a role similar to that already and was outstanding. In my opinion that'd be a reason for him not to do it. It'd be like a repeat performance and i don't like it when actors do the same thing over and over.
For Cillian though it'd be something really different and i'm sure it'd be great!

And many thanks to Rukia for including that article here Sounds very intriguing, especially, I think, that part where they mention there'll be a full hour with no dialogue. I'm very curious to know how Danny Boyle plans to approach that - as don't think I've ever seen one horror movie when that's been done before. And that's brilliant news that Cillian has the main character role  I very much look forward to finding out more news about this film when it eventually becomes available. I really like the sound of it! |

He's a pretty good actor in what I've seen of him, but I was never a fangirl of him. *shrugs* Hmm, but he does look similar to Aron Ralston, no? Ryan and Aron. I'm more biased to Cillian, so of course, I'd want him to get the role over Ryan! I haven't seen much of Emile Hirsch's work, so I wouldn't be able to judge. |

Thanks so much for posting this Rukia! I really hope this does happen! When I heard this news story it really shocked & amazed me, it would make a really interesting movie! I am getting super excited but I shouldn't be because we all know how movie rumors don't always come through. Cillian would be excellent in this role! We all know he is brilliant at acting without dialogue a great example is The Water. He is also amazing at portraying struggle like in Sunshine and 28 Days Later. You just feel every bit of effort his characters portray. Although the thought of seeing him cut off his own arm is heart wrenching!  lol |

I remember reading something about The Water online, but then kind of forgot about it. I'll have to check that one out too! Although the thought of seeing him cut off his own arm is heart wrenching! lol There is that unfortunate aspect of it. Being the wuss I am though, I can see I'll probably have to cover my eyes up when the film reaches that part (assuming the rumours do come to anything) no matter how many times I tell myself that the arm's only fake lol! |

I am really trying to hold my excitement at bay now, I read a few different articles on this and only this one mentions Cillian, 2 mention Ryan, and a few mention no casting yet. Guess we have to wait a while longer to know for sure..... |

Yeah, I'm not getting my hopes too up for this project. Like only 3 other film blogs have mentioned this, and they're pretty skeptical about it. Plus, their only source is that News of the World article. *shrugs* It's not the first time Cillian's been rumored for a project, and it's not the first time that a proposed project comes to a dead end.

It's too late for me. I've already started to get my hopes up (lol). But think you're taking a sensible attitude there Rukia. ;-) And as with Larva, think I will just have to try and put it out of my mind as best as I can for now - even if it is easier said than done! ;D
