We've got Roger Waters (The Wall) and Cloud Cult (yes, oh yes!) coming up....
Saw Bettie Serveert at the Seventh Street Entry on October 2. Holy cats, they can ROCK. Like a dream mashup of The Pretenders and Blondie by way of the Netherlands. Fabulous guitar work, and an all-around great show.
(But a note re: The Entry. It's part of the legendary rock venue called First Avenue, which started out as-- believe it or don't-- the original Greyhound bus terminal in Minneapolis. First Avenue is the old terminal-building proper; The Entry is... the luggage room. So, with an insanely low ceiling, all-black decor, and an approximate one-hundred-patron capacity, it's either "very intimate" or "a [bleep]ing cave." Frankly, Bettie Serveert-- and School of Seven Bells a week earlier-- deserved to be playing the mainroom. But the sound was excellent, and they seemed to enjoy playing to a smaller crowd, so I'll just say it was like being at practically a private listening party. Now, the opening acts, on the other hand.... eeeeyaagh....)

I've just gotten back from the concert, and it kicked all kinds of ass! The place wasn't completely jam-packed, but more than enough people to fill the place with an incredible energy and passion. I met with the members of Someone Came Running and two of the members' girlfriends (whom I've become casual friends with) and we were all buzzed from the excitement. The first act was pretty kickass; I liked the drummer and the main screamo vocalist's prescence. The second act fell a bit short unfortunately; their guitars and synth were great, but I really didn't like the "clean" vocalist's voice since it felt a little too squeaky at times. Someone Came Running came third and they kicked ass as well, especially during their debut of their new song and performing "Crayola Makes That Color". And man, Charlie (my friend)was so gorgeous playing the guitar. And finally, there was The Word Alive, and they were so f*cking amazing! Tyler (the singer) has a great stage prescence and a very fun personality, and clearly loves his fans. I was actually in the mosh circle when he jumped in, and you won't believe this, but when he came by me, he fell over slightly, and grabbed me for support. I was on Cloud 9 right there, and then he shook my hand and actually said that I looked like the one having the most fun at the place. I'm not lying - he is a total sweetie, plus he's really hot in person. And this being a rock concert, there was indeed headbanging, jumping and crazy-ass moshing. I suffered no injuries, but I am sore and my ears are still ringing right now. But it was SO worth it. I definitely have a lot to look forward to at the Bring Me the Horizon concert on November. Peace!

Saw the Black Keys in Tripod last night. I can think of many single words to sum it up: class, amazing, unbelievable, stunning, un-f*ckin-real....but i think the best is just EPIC!!! It was an epic gig of epic epicness(prize for the person who gets the reference! ). Front row, right in front of Dan in all his guitar strutting glory and man was it glorious. Never stopped dancing along and head banging and the whole crowd was doing the same. They rocked hard. I can't wait to see them on Jools Holland on Friday! ;D Oh and to make the night even better, Lisa Hannigan supported them and also, walking back to the bus i almost walked right into Alan Rickman as he was leaving the Abbey Theatre where he's currently performing. That was cool, in my head i was going "Holy sh*t i nearly bumped into Severus Snape!!!" but on the outside i managed to just smile and keep walking. Now i kinda wish i'd talked to him but oh well.....Maybe i'll see him another day- like Sunday night after Temper Trap.

Alright, last night, I went to the AP Tour at the Rialto Theatre to see Bring Me the Horizon, along with Emarosa, August Burns Red, This is Hell and Polar Bear Club.
TBH, most of the acts were ok. Not really bad, but I couldn't really get into them. It wasn't until ABR and BMtH came on that the night really picked up.
Since I came there for BMtH, I will report that they were f*ckING AWESOME!!! Seriously, the guys are amazing; hearing them sing on records is one thing, but to hear them live is a whole new experience. Oli (the vocalist) is just awesome onstage, and those screams he does for songs like "Pray for Plagues" and "The Comdown" (two of my most favorites) are as authentic as they can get (somewhat jarring to hear those kinds from someone so cute).
All in all, I had a pretty good night there.

Saw Klaxons last night, it was mental! We were front row and i've never been so crushed in my life. The crowd was just surging forwards constantly. My arms are covered in bruises from the barrier. It was worth it though, they were class, and i got a setlist- despite some guy trying to grab it out of my hands and tearing it. He let go pretty quick tough, when i gave him my most evil stare and shouted "F*** OFF!" at him. So yeah, Klaxons live are guaranteed to have a crazy crowd(which i knew before going based on their dance/rcok/slight rave sound) and also be so much fun! All the dancing, singing and clapping along. Great music. Love them.

I've been smiling non-stop since THE NATIONAL gig last night. It was unreal. Epic, historic, legendary, amazing. And the best part...... We were front row and Matt stood on the barrier right in front of us- nearly fell on top of us a few times but everyone was holding him up, including us. But even better than that, he went for a wander through the audience, as always, and when he was heading back towards the stage he ended up right beside me. Everyone had their hands up so i thought "May as well stick mine up to". So i did. Just as i put it up someone grabbed my hand and then i realised it wasn't someone, it was MATT!!! He grabbed hold of my hand and used it to pull himself up over the barrier and out of the crowd. That made my year! When he grabbed my hand, the security guard who was trying to help him over, started shaking his head and trying to tell Matt to let go, but he wasn't even looking at him and there was no way i was letting go. He was squeezing so tight and leaning all his weight on me anyway so i wouldn't've been able to! I was thinking "Matt i'm not that strong, i'm gonna let you fall!" but the adrenaline rush must've helped because i didn't! Matt Berninger grabbed my hand!!!! Huuuuge smile on my face... ;D

Wow i seem to be the only one who posts here anymore but ah well...... BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN!!!!!! Yep i was at both of his Dublin gigs on Tues and Wed night and they were, as usual, unbelievably amazing. He played for 3 and a half hours each night and i was in the pit- very close to the front of it too- both nights. I'm never removing my pit bands! Theyre so pretty, ones blue and ones a pinky colour. I danced like a maniac, sang my heart out, talked to some lovely strangers and got some gorgeous new Bruce tees. So i think that makes 7 times that i've seen the Boss now and i hope to double that or even triple it if he keeps touring! ;D
