Ah man, this is really heartbreaking news: thenewsoftoday.com/anime-director-satoshi-kon-dead-at-47-of-cancer/1439/I haven't seen everything Kon has made, but from what I have watched (Perfect Blue, Paprika and a few episodes of Paranoia Agent), he was phenomenal and really created visual splendors. Even though they're animated pieces, Kon's work is true cinema that tell stories and emotions, and it's very sad to see a real genius in not only animation, but filmaking in general pass away so suddenly and so soon. There is also the fact that he had also been working on another film set to come out next year called "The Dream Machine" which I hope does get completed sometime. But for now, I will commemorate this great artist and remember his great works, as well as finally get around to watching Millennium Actress (which I've heard great reviews for).

Omg that's awful! Such a shame. Especially as he was still fairly young. I think he created some really impressive interested work too. Paranoia Agent is a huge anime series favourite of mine. I also enjoyed Perfect Blue and Tokyo Godfathers. Wasn't quite so struck with Paprika - though still found the whole general concept pretty fascinating. I'd really like to watch Millennium Actress too, as that's one I've also never gotten round to seeing.
