But you never know, he says they'll be introducing some new characters and seen as he admires Joseph as an actor he could still pop up in it. I really hope he does, obviously. I'm staying positive.

Despite an inkling that Marion Cotillard would make a hell of a Catwoman, Catwoman in my atrophied brain will always be Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns, so, much as I would like to see a tough, disturbed, smart, sexy gal take on Catwoman in another Batman film, if Nolan can't see fit to include her (and, frankly, he has a thing about writing women who are either On a Pedestal, Untouchable or The Girl Who Asks Questions and/or Gets Tied Up), I'm more than cool with that. They'd never top the moment when Selena Kyle, unmasked, appears at the top of the stairs at the costume ball in Returns. That was something straight out of classic Garbo.
As for the title: nope. Nuh uh. I know that, for fairly obvious reasons of cliche, they didn't want to go with The Dark Knight Returns. But Rises...? How the hell does a (k)night rise...? Empires rise, the moon rises, the sun also rises. (Ba-da-bump!) But night, k or no k, falls....

If we're going to get all technical about the title and it's implications then surely we should point out that Batman isn't strictly a knight anyway. He's just some posh guy who had a slightly rough childhood, decided to teach himself some martial arts techniques so that he could act all surly and impress everyone with his skills, act all deep and complicated to get women's attention. I like the title- when i say it or read it, i get great images in my head of the rise of someone very special and strong and all that sort of stuff- even though Batman as a character is pretty annoying to me!

I don't mind the title, TBH.
As for the storyline, I'm curious to see what comics it'll be based off of. Begins was based heavily on Batman: Year One and The Man Who Falls, while The Dark Knight was based on The Long Halloween and The Killing Joke (at least in Joker's portrayal). I would like to see possibly something based on the Dark Victory storyline, as well as an expansion of "the freaks" (aka, the Rogues Gallery).

If that's seriously the final title, I'm quite dissapointed so uncreative. But anyways, I can't wait for the film, it's gonna be amazing (I LOVED Batman Begins and The Dark Knight).

Many thanks for the update Disarm!
I'm really looking to this one too. Good to know Gary Oldman is also making a comeback! (even though his part is a fairly small one). And thinking it'll also be interesting to see how Anne Hathaway does in the role of Catwoman. Agreeing it's a bit of a shame they couldn't have thought up a less predictable title. But then again, guess it could be alot worse!
