I am asking a question to all you fellow Cillian obsessed people out there about the types of characters Cillian portrays and accents he uses for them. I have to admit I am a little more turned on by Cillian playing the bad guy, like in Red Eye or Batman but having said that I prefer him with his Irish accent over the American. But hey I'll take him anyway really!
I would absolutely love for him to make a movie here in Australia and directed by Baz Lurman. Hearing Cillian put on an Aussie accent would be awesome. I'll be the first to put my hand up to be his dialect coach.
Let me no how you prefer Cillian? (apart from wearing nothing but a smile in your bed ;) )

Like you I feel turned on by him when he plays evil characters. And to me Jackson Rippner is definitely the most attractive and sexy villain I ever saw in a movie. I love Crane too. His arrogant behavior and eloquent manner. And his classes of course!! XD But I love Cillian also as a sensitive character, so as Fischer. I must admit I adore Fischer!! A little spoilt seeming on the surface but almost child like and sweet in his vulnerability. And so handsome and very good dressed!! LOL I have something for good dressed men. I'm not so into sloppy clothing. Yes, yes... On Cillian everything looks good, but I prefer it when he's wearing clothes that show the shape of his body...  About accents... For me, a German speaking person, the Irish accent is a bit too difficult to understand. So I prefer the dubbed version (in films where he speaks Irish) or at least films where he speaks with American or English accent. But even there I don't understand everything, unfortunately. But about Australian: I saw once a close up from that scene in Inception where you can see Fischers passport and there was written that Fischer's Australian!! Did you know that?  |

Well, I fully expect to be in the minority with my opinion, but I prefer Cillian's American accent. There are a couple of reasons: one, it was the way I was introduced to him, since I first saw him in Red Eye. Two, I believe his American accent is more authoritative than his native Irish. When Cillian speaks with the American accent, he slows his speech somewhat and lowers the register of his gorgeous voice, which makes him completely entrancing to listen to. In his natural speech, the lilt of the Irish brogue tends to raise the pitch of his voice a bit higher. Personally, I find a deeper, stronger voice more attractive, so I prefer his American; plus, he does it so very well. By the way, I used to completely "go for" foreign accents before Cillian - but his American one somehow turned me around. LOL. First man I had ever seen that I found sexier without the foreign accent. As far as good vs evil, I will always take a villain from Cillian any day over a hero. Though he has the ability to combine both, I believe. it might be more accurate for me to state my preference as for him to play exceptional, strong, intense men in some form, whether good or bad. Men who are good at what they do, and accomplished. Powerful, even, to some extent. Rippner and Capa fit this mold, and I think Raymond Leon will as well. I never quite buy Cillian when he is attempting to play an "average Joe", because there simply isn't much about him that I find commonplace, so I like him in roles where he's a cut above in some form. Particle physicist/astronaut...? Hell, yeah!! Buy me a ticket!! Video store owner...? Meh- I'll wait for the DVD. LOL As for the external, I agree with Zombiekitten- I don't like him in sloppy clothes either! The man can really work a suit!!  Think he looks much more attractive with longer hair, a la Rippner or Capa, rather than short. Scruffy and in a suit drives me crazy!  |

oh yeay! an actual disgussion with people who are so in tune with him this is just fantastic! Yes I have to agree Rippner and Crane are 2 of my favorite Cillian characters, the arrogance and stylish manner he brings to those characters is just awesome to watch. The simple way he kind of brings his top lip up ever so slightly that accentuates his cheek bones give him an absolute look of distaste and contempt to who he is talking to ahhh just drives me crazy! lol! I haven't had the pleasure of watching Sunshine yet, Australia is a little bhind the times when it comes to Cillian much to my disappointment, thank gosh for ebay! But I no what you mean about Watching the detectives as much as i enjoyed the movie it just didn't live up to Cillian's abilities, it was very light weight. I totally understand what you guys are saying in reguards to his American accent and please i have nothing against Americans what so ever but its just so common (oh please anyone reading this please do not take offence to that) I think I feel that way because Australia is although a multicultural society we are very 'Americanised' so with me something a little different from that is always going to appeal more to me and Irish/English accents do it for me every time. Yes yes yes he totally rocks a well fitted suit and all clean cut and shaven but me being a laid back Aussie girl I also like a man who looks pretty rough and ready ie Jim 28 Days Later mmm mmm MMMM! Take me home now baby!! I haven't seen Perrier's Bounty yet either, I would really like to see that soon too. Oh and also Disco Pigs, I have ordered that and am eagerly awaiting the arrival of it. Oh and yes zombiekitten now that you mentioned the Australian passport thingy reguarding Inception I do recall something about that, the plane they were on was s'posed to be flying back from Australia to wasn't it?? Well thankyou Zombiekitten and Pisces I have really enjoyed reading your replies and writting my thoughts back. |

So every one of them becomes unique. |

I wish I had a download on my ipod of just Rippners voice telling a long story or something. Oh that would help me fall asleep at night:) I would like to see Cillian play in more comedies. But it has to be a naughty one. Hehehe Btw: those audio files are really delicious to listen to!! I wish I had a more modern cell phone so I could use one of those for a ringtone. Hmmm... he may have been in bed with you gals but he was thinking of me But on a serious note, do any of you believe Cillian would come out of the bedroom alive if he had a night with any of us? Answering that question myself, he wouldn't have the chance to come out of the bedroom as i would keep him tied to the bed and oh no thats getting a little twisted I have to stop myself there lol! |
