This is the first i've read of this and it sounds fabulous!
I too (as others have said) love the book To Kill A Mockingbird. I first had to read it at school and it's stayed with me ever since. I sincerely hope Cillian might be playing the Atticus Finch-type-character of this piece!
Though i shan't complain whatever because being set in "the North of England" (where i'm from by the way) either means he will have a Northern accent (Mancunian? Yorkshire? Geordie? Scouse?) or he will keep his gorgeous Irish brogue. Sounds like win/win to me! ;D

Apologies for the double post but here seems to be the IMDB page - only Cillian confirmed so far? www.imdb.com/title/tt1441940/Though it does say it is set in *Southern* England now, not Northern as those earlier articles suggested?

How sweet! YAY! I must admit, with shame I have never read To Kill a Mocking Bird but anything Cillian excites me...
I may have to read the book though

Glad this one is moving forward! Since we hadn't heard anything, I was afraid it was going to be deactivated, as Wayfaring Strangers was. But I will temper my excitement on this one, in case it ends up in the same boat as Retreat (so disappointed that Retreat isn't going to be in theaters)....

I must have gotten confused by the early DVD release - I took that to mean that Retreat wasn't coming to theaters. IMDb says October 21 in US theaters, but does not say how wide of a release it will be. I have yet to see a trailer on TV, so it will likely be a limited release, as you say. Sorry for the confusion!

Yeah it is not uncommon for small indie movies like this to only get a limited release and not have any marketing. I wonder if Cillian will be doing some press though for this hmmmm.

Anyone want to discuss the book who has read it?? I just finished reading it.
Cillian confirmed in one of the interviews during the In Time premier that he's playing the teacher!!! Which is probably one of my favourite characters in the book, Mr Jeffries. I love him. Cillian as a teacher just seems perfect!
I also did not know it was based off of To Kill a Mockingbird because I never read that book and one cursory glance at the plot on wikipedia explains Broken a LOT lol.
Anyways. Those of you thinking to read it... you should! I won't post any spoilers just in case. But yeah. Let me just say his character says a few things that I'm going to be very disappointed about if they don't make it into the film!!

I have always wanted to read that book but I never did because of my abbreviation to books (I blame an English and a Danish teacher for that) but I really should read it...
I read a short summary a little while ago and it sounds really interesting, its gonna make such a good movie I'm sure!
