I'm sorry to say girls that my camera has been playing up a lot lately. It's really driving me mad because i love taking photos and making videos at gigs. I'm gonna try and buy a new one sometime soon but i just bought a Sony Vaio notebook for college so it'll be a while before i can afford it now. I'll try my best though- if i can stop dancing long enough to snap some! Also i'll try and remember as many songs as i can Megan. I doubt i'll be able to give you a full setlist, unless i try to keep track by writing them in my phone but we'll see... Having been in close proximity to him- havin had him brush past me a couple of times even - in the last year i don't feel too hyper about seeing him this time- i mean he always just seems like such a normal nice guy. He blends in with the crowds. I just can't wait to hear what songs he plays and i'm hoping he'll take requests, if he does i may get up the courage to ask if he has any Black Keys stuff. Great to dance to.

Ok so the night was brilliant! First thing i see when i walk in the door of the club is Mr Murphy standing at the bar in a lovely red and navy striped jumper(not the one that was similar to Freddie Kruger's!) beside Des Bishop. Next to Des, who's about 6 foot or more, he looked even smaller than usual. Extremely handsome of course though, all jutting cheekbones and angular jaw and darting blue eyes. So the bands- Jape, Little Green Cars and The Rubber Bandits played first while Cillian and Des just mingled with the crowd and chatted to everyone. Of course Cillian was under constant attack from women wanting photos and once again i didn't ask him for one, i just don't like doing that sort of thing. It makes me uncomfortable and you can see that even though he's extremely obliging and polite to everyone he's a bit uncomfortable with it too. So then Des introduced Cillian saying how he knew why all the women had suddeny congregated around the front of the stage- "It's the eyes isn't it?! If i could just live in those puupils"- which prompted Cillian to stare intently at his i-Pad as though he hadn't heard a word! Cillian then said that all he wanted was that "everyone has to dance!". So he played mainly dance stuff. A lot of which i wouldn't know being more of an indie/rock taste myself but he did play some brilliant songs. Opened with LCD Soundsystem(would you have guessed?!) and also played The Beastie Boys, Janelle Monet(love her), Yeasayer....crap i'm suddenly gone blank.....I'm in college now so maybe my brother will remember more when i get home. At the end though, Des said "Ok this is Cillian's last song for the night, he's a bit embarassed about playing it but...." Then Cillian said something like "If i play it every single person has to dance to it!" and then proceeded to press play on Beyonce's Single Ladies! ;D It was hilarious, everyone did go mental dancing. People kept chanting for more so he had to play a couple more, he played a song from the Drive soudtrack and one more i can't recall right now. At one stage as i was coming back upstairs from the bathroom and he was standing right at the top of them and the girl infront of me just went "Hi!", to which he replied "Howaya" and she just went "Shiiiitttt!!!" and ran away! That was pretty amusing, he looked bewildered and as i passed him i just caught his eye and smiled and he smiled and nodded back. That's good enought for me! Oh and i didn't bring my camera but i took a few with my brother's one. They're not amazing but it is Cillian! And i also took a few on my phone but i'm not sure how to transfer them to the computer. I'll try my best to get them up for ye soon. My brother made a couple of videos too. Not sure what he videod exactly but we'll see! I've probably forgotten some stuff, i'll update again later as things come back to me, right now i gotta get to a lecture. Wish me luck with staying awake through the most boring lecturer ever droning one about English and it's history on less than 3 hours sleep last night! Ick... should be fun.

Thank you for that account! I could really imagine it.
Haha OMG he played Single Ladies? Now thats the last song I would imagine he had chosen, how cool though! I'm gonna have a right laugh the next time I go clubbing and they play that!
And can I just say that I admire you for respecting him that way! I'd hope I would do the same if I ever got so lucky but I don't trust myself...

Thank you so much Razz! I really need to move to Ireland!! Really hilarious how Cillian played All My Single Ladies, I can't even imagine! I'm glad everyone had a good time and danced like he wanted. That poor girl, hahaha, she was probably overcome with fangirlness and couldn't hold it in. I bet she feels silly now! I just love how nonchalant Cillian seems, especially about his fame. A lot of celebrities would, as bad as it sounds, do this kind of thing for publicity whilst Cillian clearly did it solely for the cause. Gosh I just love him! Thanks again Razz for sharing, and I can't wait to see any pics and videos you might have! Have a CB.

Oh, Thanks a bunch for your report! I'm trying to imagine the moment the ambient... I'm sure it has been amazing! How lucky you are!!
About approaching him... I'm not sure what would I do... If it was on the street for example I'm mostly sure that I would respect him but if it was in a party like in this occasion I'd try to take a photo with him (I'm saying try because I'm extremly shy and I'm not sure If I would be bold enough to do it, I dunno wich one would be more embarassed, me or cillian! XD)

Aw thanks so much for the CB's guys. Oh and i thought of another songs, don't know how i forgot it actually seen as it was one of the highlights for me! M.I.A. Love that song. Oh and Valentina, that's how i was the first time i saw him- in the bar after the play last year. I was just so shy and just stood there staring every time he walked past. I was trying to work up the courage to ask him for a photo but i just got so nervous everytime i ended up in talking distance of him hat i couldn't do it! I knew i'd stmble over all my words and say something ridiculous. The second time(after the interview) he was literally 10 deep in a crowd of fangirls and you could see he wanted to get away asap so i didn't want to bother him. He left with a friend- again very casually, just walking down the streets of Cork and blending in with the crowds. So now i'm sort of used to seeing him and being in the vicinity of his being(never thought i'd be saying that about Cillian Murphyt!) i don't get all nervous and fangirly but i also don't see the photo as important for some reason. I don't know exactly why, i can't explain it! Maybe because the last photo i got with somebody i love looked awful and also reminded me how awkward that situation was. I think memories are better than photos when it comes to this sort of stuff...... if that makes any sense to anyone! Then again maybe if i see him again somewhere i might feel ok to ask then.... It's always the kind of thing you imagine in your head, and when you do you always come off really cool and casual and say something witty and clever but then when it comes to executing it i know it'd never happen that way! Anyway i'm just rambling.... Sorry!

Same here - I always look terrible in pictures, so I always tend to stare and keep silent when meeting someone famous...

I'd die if I met Cillian and said something stupid like the girl you mentioned... But I most likely would... If I ever got to meet him (FAT chance) I'd try to thank him for Breakfast on Pluto because of what it meant for me... probably ask him to sign my copy of the book I always carry with me... but most likely I'd say something like 'Huba.. huba' or worse, start blabbering in Danish!
But it would depend on the situation, I have this thing with meeting famous people when they're having a day off; If I do that I will ignore them but if I met them at some event I'd be okay with it you know?
Like my favorite Danish comedian Brian Mørk lives in the same town as me and sometimes I meet him a LOT in the supermarket I used to work in and I just smile and pass him by... I want his autograph so bad! I remember the first time I saw him I was at work and when he had passed the bakery where I worked I pointed him out to my coworker who almost ran after him... I had to remind her she was working!

Yeah i'd love to thank him for introducing me to Local Natives. I love them now, can't wait for a new album and more gigs. And talk to him about John Banville and other authors and books. But i don't see that happening in a club with the music blaring! I always imagine i'd bump into him in a coffee shop where'd we'd both be reading books or in a park in the summer- also reading- and maybe he'd comment on the book i'm reading or something and then we'd have a great discussion on literature etc. It good to daydream..... Oh and i forgot to say he was doing the cutest little dance moves on stage. He'd raise his arms and just sway them from side to side with a little smile on his face like he was thinking "C'mon i have great taste in music, don't you love this song?". Or he'd clap along and just sway slightly to the rhythm. Adorable. At one stage as well, he accidentally disconnected the i-Pad and the music just stopped. He hastily plugged it back in and gave a little shrug and a cringey look of "sh*t, didn't mean to do that!".
