LOL Alisa!! I had heard about that before - Ville Valo talked about it once in an interview. He also enlightened me to the existence of the Joulupukki. ;D He gives the BEST interviews on earth. (Sorry, Cillian!)

So what are peoples' favourite Christmas songs and movies? I love Elf, Love Actually, The Holiday and The Polar Express. And of course It's a Wonderful Life. And songs....well it's so hard to choose or even narrow it down! 'Fairytale of New York' is always up the top, and there's Darlene Love's 'Christmas (Please Come Home)', Brenda Lee's 'Rockin Around the Christmas Tree', The Waitresses 'Christmas Wrapping', Bing Crosby and David Bowie 'Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth' and Ella Fitzgeralds version of 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas'. Then there's the ones like Slade, Wizzard and i really love The Darkness's one too. They're all great fun to dance around to. ;D Oh and Nat King Cole's 'The Christmas Song' is probably my ultimate favourite. I adore that song.

Some of my fave Christmas songs are 'Fairytale of New York', 'Grandma Got Run Over by Reindeer', 'Rudolph The Red nosed Reindeer', 'Frosty the Snow Man' and a Jackson 5 Christmas song called 'Up on The House Top'.
Its funny, a few years back I refused to listen to any of the Jackson 5 Christmas album because they were all Jehovah's Witnesses when they recorded it and I felt sorry for them having to sing all that... now I just enjoy the music.
As for my favorite movies, two absolutely tops the list; Frosty The Snowman and Rudolph, I watched them since I was a little girl and they were always my fondest Christmas memories and I still watch them and enjoy watching them...
The Polar express is amazing to me, not only is it well animated but the story always gets to me

Yes, I just LOVE Sarah McLachlan! Her voice is gorgeous, and so soothing. Perfect for Christmas music. Another man who can sing Christmas songs like no other is Ray Charles. As for films, I have to watch Home Alone every year, but only the first and second films! They always make me laugh. ;D Another one is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, love it! A Christmas Story, The Grinch, and It's a Wonderful Life. It's not Christmas until I watch all of these! I'm really late with my Christmas shopping this year, college has me broke. I'm going to have a great time at the malls this weekend, it's going to be a nightmare! LOL

I have no favorite Christmas music or carols - they play them so much on TV in all the commercials that I start muting it about a week into December, lol. I'm not a Scrooge, I swear! I just can't handle hearing them so repetitively for six weeks straight. My favorite Christmas movie is The Ref, followed by A Christmas Story. There's a channel in the States that has a 24 hour marathon of Christmas Story every year, and I usually catch that at some point. And I used to watch the original Die Hard every year too, lol. though I haven't done that one for a while.

@ Christmas songs... If I hear "Last Christmas" just ONE MORE time I'm going to EXPLODE, I can tell ya! LOL What I'm also fed up with is: "Do they know its Christmas time ..." Don't know actually if that's the title.... But I have to admit I like "Rudolph" and "Let it snow" (so romantic it breaks my heart *cries*)

(Sorry, Cillian!) Oh... I haven't seen/heard many of his interviews in English. Quite many of them in Finnish. He's always polite, open and shameless. That's quite an entertaining combination. From the little I've seen in English I've noticed he doesn't have much of a Finnish accent(well, singers rarely do...) which is one of the most horrible accents in the world. My favorite Christmas movie is Rare Exports: www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxroJDycTQI...and my favorite Christmas carol/song is Varpunen Jouluaamuna(Sparrow on a Christmas morning) www.youtube.com/watch?v=Afx-62sCmJ4I think I can safely assume at least 60% of Finnish people would choose that one if you asked them their favorite Christmas song

Since it's officially Christmas is Denmark:
Merry Christmas, Glædelig jul, Frohe Weihnachten, Feliz Navidad, Joyeux Noël, Buon Natale!
To everyone and all!
EDIT:
I can't sleep, and I managed to find the Christmas spirit I have been looking for this year... I feel like sharing a silly story that will make you shake your head but I know I will tell it to my future children.
Growing up as I've already said I hated Christmas, sure enough the presents were nice but my mum would also be especially mean and I dreaded the day for an entire month so from when I was about 12 I would pretty much hate everything about Christmas.
But when I was 15 I think, I had decided myself to try to relax and figured if I helped my mum in the kitchen and didn't hide in my room waiting for the day to be over I might actually have a somewhat cozy Christmas Eve... there were a few fights over the cooking of course but in the end we sort of relaxed and then the magic happened... after dinner I walked the dog while the others washed the dishes and I looked up at the sky, enjoying the silent night, not a single sound was to be heard and the frosty air made the black sky so clear and just as I looked up I saw the biggest shooting star I ever saw. I smiled so wide and I couldn't help wonder if it was Santa flying by... silly I know but something in my heart had changed.
When I came back it was time to light the candles on the tree and I had never seen anything more beautiful, I sat there and nearly cried at the beauty of the tree I early hadn't bothered much with decorating...
Since then I have believed it was a version of Santa I saw that night, and his present was the true spirit of Christmas.
And silly as I am, since then I have insisted on being the one to walk the dog and I keep my gaze on the sky... but I still have that magical feeling when I see the tree. That will never change.

oh WOW bloody rose! That almost brought me to tears! that's a great story! I am so happy you found Christmas to be special this year. *hugs*
Christmas is always a special and hilarious time for me. Like I said earlier, we put a Christmas Monkey instead of a star or an angel on the top of the tree. My sister and I would always wake up at, like, four in the morning and wait for an hour until we could open our stockings. I am always in charge of the Christmas music, and so we listen to a lot of Daft Punk and Led Zeppelin, it is really a fun time!
We don't have a Christmas dinner, we just put out snack , because we are all too excited to eat. Other than that, I say we don't have many traditions. But boy is it ever a great time...
I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday!

Thanks Emma! My christmas was very quite and boring... I only was with my parents and my brother. Thank god there was my uncle showing up for some chatting ! He's really a great person to talk to. My boyfriend gave me all the seasons of "The Big Bang Theory" as a present! I LOVE that show. ;D These characters are so funny. But it's starting to get awkward if you spot more and more similarities between Sheldon and your own boyfriend...

This Christmas wasn't too bad, hell what am I saying it was great!!!! I got the best early Christmas present in Brooklyn NY on the 17th. ;D
Couple days before Christmas I took my soon to be 4yr old to see Santa, his very first time to sit on his lap. wow, I seriously dont understand the holidays anymore. Totally different from when I was younger. we waited in line for 2hrs! then at the very end, if we wanted pictures... the cheapest package was $30! well we didn't have that. $10/$15 maybe, solution.....we busted out our camera. Played paparazzi for the day, then ran like hell
