Although this research was published several years ago, I just recently came across it and thought I would share. Did you know that every single blue eyed person on earth shares a common ancestor?? Researchers discovered that blue eyes are a genetic mutation, and all blue eyed people have the same mutation in the exact same place in their DNA. This means that it is an inherited trait from a common ancestor. This means that if you too have blue eyes, somewhere in history, your family and Cillian's family are linked! Very interesting article: www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/01/080130170343.htm

I always knew I was a mutant. heh heh
I may be distantly related to Cillian through the Emerald Isle connection; my grandma O'hara's family was supposedly from County Cork. She was a real beauty - spitting image of the old silent film star Mary Philbin.
Thanks for the cool link, Cougarlady!! I love stuff like that!!!

That's interesting! The beginning of human life, Darwinism vs Creationism etc is always a blind debate, where I sit on the fence with all of it, but with very few facts to cling on to, this too unfortunately will be the case apart from the DNA tests which I think, personally, are rather cool. I have 100% Celtic background until my dad popped along and "watered my Mammy's seed" (Misterman quote LOL) I'm a Scottish/Irish/English mutt. I have dark blue eyes, cheekbones and freckly skin, but I am not related to Cillian. LMAO Can I just digress a bit... look at paintings of Adam and Eve, do they have bellybuttons? Think about it. ;D

I have 100% Celtic background until my dad popped along and "watered my Mammy's seed" (Misterman quote LOL) LOL!!! Brilliant way to put it. I think something like 1 in 4 people in my province is of Irish/Scottish descent, myself included. This article is extremely interesting, though! I won't go as far to say I'm a distant relative of Cillian, but it's really cool to know how blue eyes came to be, and that the gene is the same in all blue-eyed people, Cilly included. Great find, Cougarlady, thanks for sharing that!

I'm not a mutant, but I made one haha. Most people in my family have blue eyes. I was the unlucky one. I sometimes get asked if my son is the milkmans baby because he has pretty blue eyes and his father and I have boring eye color

Yeah! Cillian, you beautiful blue eyed mutant! LOL My brother has blue eyes too ! YAY! And my boyfriend... Should I tell him that he shares some genes with Cillian ? LOL That whole thing reminds me a bit of that genetic tests some chemistry labs are offering to normal people (it's not for free of course ) to check their genes for their ancestors far far far in the past. They are actually able to locate from which ethical tribe your family is coming from. And I mean VERY far in the past, stone age far. ;D And because there has been always migration in the human history, since stone age, we are all a mix of different tribes, or at least have some ancestors from other parts of the world. For expl the Finnish people are related to the Turkish and Hungarian. And the Indic and the European are also closely related. Can I just digress a bit... look at paintings of Adam and Eve, do they have bellybuttons? Well, in the most Adam and Eve paintings I've seen so far, they both have belly buttons.... For expl Michelangelos magnific Adam from the Sistine Chapel And that famous one from Albrecht Dürer, which I attached. ( he was quite scientific for his time and was drawing very natural. He also drew that famous sitting hare) Apart from this I may add that religious paintings are always somehow idealized, stuffed with symbols and metaphors and allegories. And they are not art for art's sake (nowadays maybe yes !) because they were primarily done for purpose such as hanging in churches for expl to illustrate the bible for the people who may not were able to read it, back in older times. I am distantly distantly distantly Scottish and a teensy bit Irish. My whole family considers ourselves Canadian though, since we've been here for generations and generations. Which I'm okay with B) Yeah! Canada has a huge Scottish background... Even the town I lived in there is named after a town in Scotland and there's frequent tartan wearing and bagpipes playing at events all over Canada right? We Scottish certainly get around and I imagine your heritage is not as distant as you think... plus there are plenty of brown and green eyed Scottish folk here in UK LOL

Wow that's awesome! Even if I don't have blue eyes (same as you Disarm, all my family has blue/grey eyes except me) I am not uspet enough about it to try and change it via surgery. I don't care, I have the exact same eye color as Shannon Leto (that's what an echelon said after she hugged him). Does that mean Shannon and I share the same ancestor? If it does, that means I am related to Jared Leto, AND Razz of course! LOL ;D

^haha omg, I have the same color as Shannons too, and my sister who I'm very close with, her eyes look like Jared's. We always joke that we are the "bigger" female versions of the Leto brothers.
