Hi everyone! As a staff member, helping to look after this forum has been an honor and a pleasure for the last two years. And what a ride it's been!  The role of moderator is one of responsibility and of upholding forum rules, which can often entail taking actions that may or may not be popular, and as such, is very different than that of being a member. Burnout is a very real thing, and though I remain as big a fan of Cillian as ever, I feel that I have exhausted (or been exhausted by, lol) my role as a staff member. So I will be stepping down as moderator, as soon as Shannon can put this into effect. After caring for the forum for so long, I very much feel the need to simply relax and be a member.  I'm not going anywhere - this forum is truly my social network and I love you all far too much to ever leave. The boards remain in VERY capable (and talented) hands - Zombie, Razz and Emma are wonderful, compassionate people who will continue to keep Cillian's forum a special place to visit. Look forward to chatting with all of you on the boards, as always! And I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone for being so supportive of the forum and of the staff - to say that we've appreciated it doesn't come close to conveying our heartfelt gratitude. Oh Pisces, hat is sad to hear! from a members point of view you have been an amazing mod, you have done a real fine job! but I completely understand how it can burn you out
But I am glad to see you're still staying here as a member!

Pisces, this is really sad to hear.  As I still was a member I was looking up to you as a wonderful, caring, wise and trustful mod. And even more it has filled me with honor and joy to become a mod myself, co-moderating this forum with you through all the good times (and bad times...  ) You were such a wonderful co-mod to me! You made it so easy and enjoyable for me to take on such a post, of which I never thought taking on at all. Thanks for all the support you gave me!  I truly understand and totally back your decision. The main thing is, that you can enjoy this forum as you like, to your hearts content. Being a mod should NEVER eat up so much energy that one can't fully enjoy being a member anymore. And at such a point it is best to step down. You will still be a member, you will stay among us, and you will be relaxed! That's the most important thing. I will try my best to moderate this forum on, with my co-mods Emma and Razz. And I hope I can manage to do my "job" as good as you did.... Enjoy your stay, member Pisces!  |

*sigh of relief* I was so sure you were saying that you were leaving...I seriously started to tear up... but yay--you're staying!! And this is totally sad that you're not going to be a Mod anymore...*sniff* but hey, whatever makes you happy...and I support you with the decision. |

I came back to this forum because I had a spare Misterman ticket for Galway last year. I completely forgot I had an existing account until it remembered my e-mail. Then, I remembered Pisces who, a couple of years before was stood in the midst of an apocalyptic disaster called the Cillian Fan Forum. The boards had sensitive information and violation issues in it that even Pro Boards couldn't respond to. It seemed a terrible lost cause but two years on, I find Pisces still standing there in the same spot only around her was a buzzing, colourful and respectable forum. Pisces brought this forum back from a pile of poo-washed ashes and desperate neglect. So all you members who came after that I just want you to see what she has done. I may annoy some folk saying that but it is what I witnessed. Also, the regulars know that there has been some heavy negativity affecting the boards. Not only do all our mods feel responsible for EVERYTHING that happens including the attacks, opinions and reactions of others, but they pull the skin off their backs to create a forum to please EVERYONE and EVERY OPINION just to keep the peace, all while they are human beings themselves with feeling and opinions themselves that they have to keep muted for the benefit of all the members. Their decisions to lock the forum or remove posts etc do not come from frivolous snap decisions or personal reactions, but numerous debates and a lot of hair tearing and worry, even tears, so that we can all enjoy a good pleasant gas on here. My hat goes off to all the mods, especially Pisces, yes I do see her as a bit of a Linda Hamilton type after all but she has been through a lot of crap and that's why. Zombz is our newest mod and I wish you, Zombz all the best and know you will do a great job too. We have some lovely members on here and you are all a great laugh and really interesting to know. Lasting friendships and great adventures have come from this forum and I would like to see that be the case to continue. The tenacity and integrity here matches somewhat to the lovely actor who unwittingly guided us here. As long as this forum continues to be like that, we have a good thing going. Pisces, I raise my glass to you and wish you lots of creativity and fun in here and thank you for all of your seen and unseen hard ball sweating work. I won't take up too much more time talking about this, because I know it's not what people come here for - they come here for Cillian, for Chrissakes! But I wanted to respond to your well wishes. Rose, thank you so very much for that. You're acquainted with being a mod yourself, so I know you understand the sense of burnout. I appreciate all your support through the last year! Bunnie - no no newwwwwwwwww.... I'm not going anywhere! (Ever see What's Eating Gilbert Grape? Good ol' Arnie - "We're not going anywhere!" That's me. ;D I have no intention of leaving the forum. It's my second home. It's just time for someone else to take the wheel on this crazy jalopy for a while. It was fun! Zombie - (HUGS) I was very happy to recommend you to Shannon as mod, because you are so well-known for your compassion and generosity. So I have absolutely no worries about the forum being helmed by you, along with Razz and Emma. You've been by my side every moment though this wacky year called 2012, and it has been quite a rollercoaster!  You've truly helped make the forum a better place, and I can't imagine it without you now. Proud to co-mod with you, and will miss doing so. And yes, I know I will enjoy my stay as a regular member.  Shamrocks - WOW, Linda Hamilton?? Hope you meant that in a Sarah Connor, T2, toned-arms-manhandling-a-machine-gun sort of way....  I like the idea, so I'll pretend that that's what you meant. But even Sarah Connor had to put the gun down at some point. ;D That's where I'm at. What you said about the forum's progression means a lot to me, and I really, truly appreciate your words about the behind-the-scenes work that has gone into it. Aaawww, Pisces, you're making me cry. I'm a little emotional right now because of some crazy drama going on in my personal life, so all I can think of doing right now is to squeeze your shoulders and just bawl my eyes out. Although I understand that burnout can be tough, I'm also saddened by this news because you have done such a great job, together with the other mods. It's just sad you won't be part of the team watching over the forum...it's just like when a band member leaves your favorite band. *sniffs* I know I shouldn't be so sad because you'll still be around and we still have wonderful mods, I guess I just find it sad when things end. I guess I've been away for so long that I've missed out on a lot of things.
Oh, well...As long as you stick around, everything's gonna be just peachy! ;D

Pisces: I just sent you a pm But am also very sorry to see you step down as moderator. You did an excellent job! But at the same time totally understand and respect your decision, and am also very glad to know you're not leaving! Which I nearly assumed when I first saw your pm pop up in my in box! I'm so glad to know that's not the case. This board would not be the same without your presence! Even if you can't mod anymore, your contribution as a member will continue to make the tremendous positive difference to this community that it always has. And that's the important thing! For everybody: I didn't see there was really a need to create a separate thread on this, so thought I'd metntion this here. I'm also stepping down as a mod. I'm sure this news won't be too surprising to most of you, given how inactive I've mostly been in recent months. To cut what's a bit of a long complicated story short, when first accepting the mod position, in 2010, my personal circumstances were pretty different to now. It was much easier for me to be active on here as both a moderator and a member poster, but since this has unfortunately changed.  At first, I hoped it would just be a short term temporary thing. But as time has gone on, it's become increasingly apparent this isn't the case. After lengthy thought on this, I've decided it's best to go back to being a posting member, as Pisces is doing, and let somebody else take over my mod position. However, I am also not leaving, and plan to continue contributing to this site as a member as much as I can! Also look forward to continuing to talk with you all around the boards! |
