So how did it happen for you?
For me it was Breakfast on Pluto I watched one late night on TV with tears streaming down my face and I couldn't explain why but I had to own the DVD and the book... I developed some form of crush on Kitten as I couldn't stop watching the movie and figured I might as well learn more about the actor who did such a fantastic job... I watched a few movies I rented from the library and i already owned 28 Days Later and suddenly it hit me...
I was in love! I had to know more and more about him, I started looking at pictures and had the need to watch all his movies... about 4 months after I watched BoP for the first time I found this forum and joined...
What about you?

Batman begins, defiantly. He was just so...wonderful. I kept asking my dad when he wasn't on screen, "Soooo...is that Crane fella coming back soon?" XD

Batman Begins...i think my story is infamous... I was sitting in the theater and he came on...and those eyes...*hot*...I turned to my mom, at 13/14 years old and said "Mom, someday, I'm going to make babies with those eyes!" and the rest is history

I love how everyone's interest was sparked by a different movie/character. So cool! For me, the one who rocked my world was Jackson... and the epicenter was definitely the bathroom scene. The madness began there and has never ceased. LOL.

FEIST. I first saw him in the music video for 'The Water'. Then I was like 'Oh he looks familiar' but never saw anything else haha. Then I watched Inception like this past October (yeaah I jumped on that band wagon a little late) and really loved his performance, bought Red Eye on iTunes and loved that movie so much. From there delved into the hilarious Cillian tumblr fans and now here I am! I've almost seen all his movies, woo.

Wonderful thread, Bloody Rose !! Hmm... That's quite a difficult story in my case... But I'll try to explain: Actually I first saw Cillian in '28 Days Later', but didn't know him back then and also I wasn't attracted to him at all LOL Then I saw 'Red Eye'. (Didn't noticing it was the guy from 28 Days Later LOL) I was quite fascinated by him as an actor, but still wasn't a fan, neither was I attracted to him romantically. Then I saw 'Inception'. But I still was only looking at him as a very good actor who's work I'm appreciating and whom I like to see in movies. Then I saw Sunshine on TV. Slowly I began to realize that he was a good looking guy. But that was a slow process. LOL For actually he wasn't the usual type of guy I like. But somehow I couldn't get that actor out of my mind. I don't know why but one day I thought, that guy there, Cillian Murphy, I somehow would like to draw him. So I was googling him and more and more I fell in love with him. Also I suddenly felt the intense urge to watch Red Eye again. One day after work I went in literally EVERY movie store in my hometown to search after that movie. But couldn't find it.... So, a few days later, I searched for the movie in my local library and found it, finally !!! And then, after watching Red Eye again, after years, I was TOTALLY crazy about Cillian!!! The obsession grew stronger and stronger. I was looking for every single movie he was in and at the same time I got obsessed about drawing him on and on. And obsession I had never before !! And it still goes on! I never felt so much for an actor before! And it's not only the "crush" part. It's also a never fading interest in his diverse and stunning and colorful work!

But somehow I couldn't get that actor out of my mind. I don't know why but one day I thought, that guy there, Cillian Murphy, I somehow would like to draw him. So I was googling him and more and more I fell in love with him. That is beautiful. I mean, I'm not good a drawing, but I can imagine how it is to look for tiny details, to study his bone structure and everything, in order to draw him. That's a very nice way to become a fan I have the feeling I've already said that in another thread, maybe it was "what was the first Cillian movie you saw" or something like that. When I was 12, we had a party with a few classmates. We watched 28 Days Later, and I can say I've always been terrified with horror movies. Yes, I'm that kind of person who put their hands on their eyes and look through their fingers, jumping and shaking like hell during a horror movie... xD Sadly, his talent didn't particulary struck me that night, to be honest I was too scared to even pay attention to it. But a few years later, my father took me to the cinema to watch Sunshine. The two of us go there once a year, so the movie must always be special (most of the time, it's for a very old movie or a themed-night) for my father to decide on that one. I was pretty much terrified too, but somehow after the first 10 minutes I managed to keep my hands on my knees and not in front of my eyes and that's when the magic happened. I recognised him, I have a pretty good memory for faces (not for names, sadly). And then I watched Batman Begins with a friend, and I was like "oh, that's Jim, and Capa". Then, I put a name on that face, and I grew curious. And that's it. Since 2007, I have not been disappointed by his talent. Sometimes I question some of his choices about movies, but he's always brilliant, so we can forgive him

My becoming a fan was a bit gradual. I first saw him in 28 Days Later, and I loved that film, and I loved his performance. So, I guess I wasn't a "fan" of him, but based on that film alone I knew he was a great actor. Upon seeing Red Eye and then Sunshine, things became a bit more feverish (lol), so those films definitely got the ball rolling for what now is an obsession with Cillian. I googled him, and even lurked here a few times a couple of years before joining. I finally joined after seeing Inception, because I needed to express my love for this wonderful actor. So yeah, 28 Days Later started it, but Red Eye and then Sunshine set it in stone!

I love reading everyone's stories about how they discovered Cillian; it's so interesting that for most of us, it took a film or two until we found the "right" one that turned us on to him. And in fact it's true for me as well! I always forget that I saw him for the very first time in Batman Begins. I noticed him as a good looking young guy, but didn't notice him, if you know what I mean. And weirdly, the first time I ever saw Jackson was in the newspaper. There was a nice review of Red Eye with a black and white photo - the infamous one of Jackson holding Lisa's face in the plane's bathroom, and I still remember the intensity I could feel even from that image. The tenseness in his jaw, the laserlike focus, the scruffy hair. The newspaper was spread out on the floor in front of me, and I just kept staring at that pic. LOL. Never did see the movie in the theater, though I wanted too, because the pic had intrigued me and the review had been good. Months later, I ran across RE showing on pay-per-view... and suddenly remembered that black and white photo. So I ordered it and BOOM. Hooked. LOL. You all know how it goes after that. You find yourself running to the video store (well, in 2006 you did, anyway, lol), trying to find anything and everything with this guy. I saw 28 Days Later and Intermission in one weekend....started counting the days until Sunshine... and have never stopped following him. But... Jackson is still top of the pile for me. He was my "first love".

I had actually seen Cillian in two other movies before I watched Breakfast on Pluto;
I remember watching Sunshine some years ago on the telly thinking to myself that long haired guy is kinda cute I guess... when my friend and I watched Tron Legacy I walked away thinking 'OMG I like that guy at the beginning, that dude at the business meeting... wonder who he is??' but I never got around to finding it out before this year after Kitten made me a fan of Cillian

I will always remember how i became obsessed with him. It's actually not more than half a year ago, so i'm kinda new in his world. I first saw him in inception, and noticed him right away. He reminded me of somebody i knew - not anymore though - but i didn't find out who i was until i accidently watched the end of 28 days later with some friends. At some point it just struck me that it was the same beautiful man. My friend introduced me to red eye a few hours later and well... here i am :-D he is my greatest inspiration. I'm going to london next month - i live in denmark - to watch 'misterman' and i just can't wait! i'm going to pass out when he walks on stage..

I saw Cold Mountain a while back and saw his part there... I thought... "ooo cute soldier!" Then Natalie Portman bloody shot him! Then I saw a bit of BOP and I thought... "My goodness! What an incredible actor and character!" His face was so striking too, I was really enjoying the film but it was switched over to another channel because my friend didn't "get it" Then another time, with the same friend, I saw Red Eye and thought... "ooooh - he's a bit cute!" I googled the man and when I saw he was the same person from BOP & Cold Mountain I was blown away! I was hooked on his performances since then... he's one of the most powerful and talented actors I have ever seen! Huraaahh for Cillian! ;D

It was 2001 and I attended the whole 2 weeks of the Venice Film Festival. I love the Festival and I watch a movie there once in a while, but that year I went for the whole package. On the very last day they showed How Harry Became a Tree, in competition. I thought it was the best movie of the festival and I immediately bought the DVD when it was available in Italy. Fast forward 2 years and they eventually release 28 Days Later in Italy. "oh my God, he's the extremely cute kid from How Harry became a Tree!" I've been a film buff all my life and I've always had a penchant for older actors. Much older. Something like a rather snobbish "if you're not at least 35 I won't even look at you twice" Yet Cillian has always been different. He's one year older than me so my fascination with him was quite unique I watched Girl with a Pearl Earring because he was in it. Not many of his earlier films were available, so I had to content myself with Disco Pigs. Imagine my huge grin when Red Eye was released.... And Batman Begins was "I really have to see this one, Cillian plays the Scarecrow" I think I've always liked him because, in spite of his very young age, I've always found him not only extremely talented, but also focused and "serious". I hated Hollywood stars and pretty boys with no acting skills whatsoever....Cill was young, but nothing of that sort, obviously.
