Hmm, hokay, so, today I went to the dentist (*hisses*) and got an x-ray (*hiss*) of my wisdom teeth. Boy, are those babies messed up in my mouth. The bottom two are growing in sideways towards my other teeth, and the top two . . . hmm, I didn't catch what the dentist said, but those are bad too. Something-something-itus. And "-itus" means inflamed so, ya, inflamed somethings. So, guess what? In one trip within the next couple of weeks, I get to have all four of my wisdom teeth torn out of my head. Oh joy, oh rapture. Lucky me, they're gonna knock me out and, of course, I get to miss school for a couple of days.
Now, I was just curious . . . I've heard a few horror stories from friends who have already gotten their wisdom teeth out, but nothing all that "ick," hai? Just simple pulling and misery (so far, I think I'll beat 'em all with the whole "all four are getting pulled in one day" thing).
I was wondering if anyone had some painful, wretched, juicy stories to share. Though I'm terrified of the dentist, I somehow enjoy and yet loathe those nightmarish tales. Like horror movies - Scare the crap out of me, but at the same time, I love 'em.
So, do your worst. *straps self down to dentist's chair*

I still have all my teeth. They're all perfectly straight, except that one tooth on Cillian's bottom row in the front that's slightly behind the 2 teeth beside it, that's what my teeth look like. All normal except for that.

My wisdom teeth were never a problem so I still have them all. I did have to get a root canal a few years ago and I swear that dentist was a sadist. He didn't give me enough novocain so I felt every poke, prod and twist of the needle. I tried telling him but I was so out of it from the nitrous oxide I could barely raise my arms. I did manage to tap him and try to talk considering I had all that crap in my mouth but he ignored me. Yeah, he was an asstard.

My boyfriend just had it done (all four in one day), he was pretty out of it for 2-3 days and still puffy for about five days, but then he was fine. His body started rejecting the antibiotics after awhile though and he had to get off of them early, but no problems even with that.
The entire process is actually very short, the procedure should only take about an hour, if they're not implanted or whatever. And you said they were growing in, so I'm guessing they don't have their roots yet.
I'm having the same thing done, but I need to wait for the right time in the school year. Possibly over winter break.
I guess that's not really a horror story...um..
I got a cavity filled a couple months ago and he didn't give me enough novacaine. Ouch.

They took mine out when they saw them in the xray. They hadn't come yet, so they actually did me a favor taking them out.
I got knocked out with some cool stuff and that's all I remember.

Yikes. I hope I get knocked out and stay out. I unfortunately share my father's high tolerance to drugs, so I often have to take twice the dosage of something to feel its effects . . . And ya, I don't think some or all of mine have their roots yet either. I'm guessing that's good? I don't know much about teeth, other than they're a biotch.
Hmm, but I wonder. I just realized that I forgot to mention that the doc said I had two or three cavities because of those two wisdom teeth growing in sideways. Is that going to account for any more pain?

i got mine out when i was 13...really wasn't bad for me...other people have had bad experiences like this girl had it out and she said she was just relaly dizzy and stuff and sometimes if you do'nt gurgle with salt water like twice a day or more, the bleeding might elevate...oh, and sometimes the stitching might not be tight enough and it comes out....it wasn't bad for me...maybe i had a good dentist? i had laughing gas and yes, i was laughing...you don't feel anything...and just make sure you use the salt water often...more than twice a day, i'd recommend, because that really helps...i didn't even need to use all the pain medication and stuff they gave me....yeah, this isn't really a horror story...but yeah, i hope it all goes well and come back and update us after!
