Yes Lindos is in Rhodes. Look up St Paul's Bay and you will see our dainty little church. Aw. Nothing wrong with registry office though. Those can be nice too.

I really want to dye my hair. I love that reddish/burgundy hair (not sure what it's actually called), but my friend says I'm too pale. I was curious what I would look like, so I recoloured my hair in photoshop (lol). I've only ever added highlights to my hair, so this would be quite a change for me. But I'm so tired of my natural colour, I think it's so boring. What do you ladies think, should I go for it?

Ooooh Cait! Pretty! Is this the intended colour you have superimposed? I think that whether somebody is pale or dark is not the issue but rather the tone of the skin. Some folk have pink/blue/cool tones and some have yellow/olive/warm tones and the colour on the hair should compliment the skin tone. So warm reds, caramel, golden blonde, reddish browns and chestnuts look nice on warm toned skin and Blue/purple reds, ash, platinum blonde, fawny browns look best on cool toned skin. Also do you have blue/green eyes there? That colour on you IMO looks stunning and makes your eye colour pop! I was blonde and long haired for years and got so tired of it getting scraggly and doing my roots burning my bloody scalp so I cut it short and went red. Sometimes I go flame red LOL the difference was amazing! My eyes shine bright blue now instead of looking like dull murky grey buttons! Do it!

That's roughly the kind of colour I want! Hopefully the colour turns out right, because I know it turns out differently for everyone. My eyes look greenish in that pic, but they're actually blue/grey. My natural hair colour is light brown/dirty blonde, so yeah this will be very different! I just love this colour! I think I'm going to go for it! Thanks for the info on warm/cool skin tones and hair colour, I think I should tell my friend about that.

I really like it Cait, I have a similar colour and it's true about the eyes, it enhances the colour of your eyes, go for it!

That's great Cait! Maybe if you go for a colour that's just 1 - 1.5% peroxide it will colour your hair enough without damaging or more intense semi permanent would be 5 - 6% you don't need a stronger one than that and go for a Tone/Colour between 5 & 6. I'm not sure if UK colour chart is the same as USA but just thought I'd add some tech stuff about permanency so you know to try your new colour out gently. If you are picking a shelf colour, make sure it's not too dark and don't pick PLUM shades they are too blue, dark and heavy. Once you have a colour that's too dark, you can't lighten it without ruining you hair with bleach!

Thank you again for the tips, Shamrocks. I really don't know a lot about this stuff! It will probably be a product bought from the shelf - should I get a specific brand, or is there not much of a difference? another thing, I wish I had your lips Aww, you're sweet Rose! Believe me, without the help of cosmetics my lips are quite dull! LOL

Hmmm I dunno what stuff you get over there honey. Just get something that's not too dark or too permanent first. You can always add intensity afterwards but remember not to go too dark because you can't undo dark!

Cait that colour is amazing! Did you ever go for it in the end? As everyone said already it really does make you eyes pop and your pale skin looks luminous. I'm a big fan of plae skin! I have very dark blonde hair that i've been dyeing a range of different reds and ever black for years. For home semi-permanent ones i always used Loreal Castings. They've got no ammonia and i always found the colours great. Oh and the conditioners that come with them smell so gorgeous! Question for Shamrocks: I've been trying for ages to figure out whether i'm cool or warm skin tone and i'm just not sure! I've checked out so much stuff online it just makes me more confused! I do have blue/grey eyes though and dark blonde hair naturally which they say usually means your cool toned? I've been trying the whole "are the veins in your wrist greeny blue or purpley blue in natural light?" thing too but i'm just not sure. I think i see a bit of both...... More purpley though i think...... And black does look better on me than brown.

LOL Razz! ;D I'm starting a bit of a beauty advice column thingy here, eh? And you want to see the state of me! Hardly a good example LMAO! ;D But seriously Razz maybe you are that "neutral" tone that can get away with all colours! I didn't mention about that particular tone of the skin there. It's hard to tell on any photo because of light etc but daylight photos can usually give a clue if ya have any and still not knowing where your skin tone is at I can have a look & guess.

All my photos are on my home computer and i'm always on my laptop now so it may take me a few days but i'll get you a picture! Thanks. Oh and we should so start a thread called "Beauty Advice" or something where we can give advice and ask questions about all sorts of stuff!
