I saw a video of the Jack Perez, First Rites movie The Big Empty and want to write song lyrics about the character Scott. It will be titled: Dear Scott. My problem is that Lee Holmes' character Scott dies in the first minute and he's briefly in a flashback scene. He was optimistic, he was nice believed in destiny. He had brownish hair, wore either a brown or an olive green sweater, black High Tops and I think an Iron Maiden shirt. In the end credits,he was only listed as Scott. He didn't have a last name. I've never written song lyrics,What do I need to know about song writing?

Hi, first you should know how the music goes as the text gott a fit with the music, too rhythmwise and all... at the moment I don´t know how would be the best way to pack up the content you described into lyrics but I´d say it starts first with the music. You gotta know to what are you doing your lyrics to. Hop I could help a bit. [glow=red,2,300][/glow]Do I have to write a letter to Lee Holmes,Jack Perez or other people and get permission to write a song about a Lee Holmes character in a Jack Perez movie? I've never written a song about a movie character. Are there people who know about songwriting ? Tomorrow,I'll rent the Pallbearer. I might write better song lyrics after I watch it. So far,I wrote 2 sentences and now I'm stuck. The lyrics are cheesy and dumb, but I just started writing. I didn't think about the music yet. After I learn how to play the guitar, what happens when I want to record the song.

I Think it would help to have some music first. at least it would help you to find a "direction" speaking of writing style, phrasing at all and this also depends on the music.. Concerning writing a letter to receive permisson: I really don´t know. I know that about music, if you want to cover a tune, record and sell it you must have permission or at lest give the credits to the composer/texter (there are special autorities worldwide, e.g. in the US this is the ASCAP.) handling all this stuff. I don´t know how is it about movie characters; I´m pretty sure there might be sth. too. But I mean - as long as you don´t distribute your stuff in a commercial way, you shouldn´t worry so much about copyrights and all. It just changes at the moment, you want to distribute the stuff. I will probably get better ideas for song lyrics after I watch The Pallbearer. It's good that I have drumsticks and a practice pad.I will practice drumming tomorrow.

I will also buy a book of photo chords aand practice making chords soon.I'll either rent The Big Empty again or Bandwagon again. I love Bandwagon. If I hear someone say something that I think should be added to my lyrics, should I ask for permission to write the sentences or words down? should i just write the words down and not tell anyone? So far,It is going very well.

I wrote some more lyrics down, but it still seems like it's a Eulogy to me. The lyrics do mean something to me.I just can't think of an original tune or come up with good lyrics and I don't have any melody yet. Hopefully I will soon.
