Eeeep....I had one of those in a certain plant in the yard for a couple of years..Every day I would go visit it. I know it sounds strange, but i would visit it because it scared me so much....I was just so amazed. One day it was gone, and I havent seen it since....I know it sounds lame...but I kind of miss it.
The things that scare me the most, amaze me the most like spiders, especially big ones are so freaky...but I can't help but like them.....it's hard to describe

Hey imthemaxx! Do you also do martial arts? (Did Teakwondo for some years but not anymore because of my profession - too dangerous..) I find Capoeira very interesting, not because of the percussion. Gotta like to learn that :-) Greetz, Alexandra i'm sorry everybody, i just wanted to share my love of martial arts and random animals living at my house...........don't be scared!

i wish, i'm more of a martial arts film buff. i've had only one kidney since i was 2, so my doctors encouraged me to keep away from contact sports and stuff (ie; karate and gymnastics). i regret it now, cuz i'm missing that youthful outlook that says "forget it, you are invincible!", cuz there really isn't anything preventing me now except my own aversions. Capoeira is awesome! it's beautiful to watch, and i like the fact that it's origin was to hide native fighting from conquistadores and such by disguising it as dance. in the movie Ong Bak, though, the style is Muay Thai, which is just BRUTAL!

ufff.. Muay Thai is really brutal!! This wouldn´t be anything for me... Capoeira is really cool, but in the moment when I´d do that I couldn´t decide to look on myself and my movements or on the percussion .. Capoeira is awesome! it's beautiful to watch, and i like the fact that it's origin was to hide native fighting from conquistadores and such by disguising it as dance. You are close. In the 1500's many Africans were taken from different areas of West Africa and brought to Brazil to be used as slaves by the Portuguese. They were taken from their land, but their culture and desire for freedom could not be taken away. With this need for freedom growing, these people began developing techniques for defending themselves and for escape. Of course slaves could not be allowed to practice martial arts, so the development and practice of the art had to be disguised. The natural disguise for the art was as a dance being that in Africa dance and music are the most popular forms of expression. So these "slaves" developed a way of practicing different defensive and offensive techniques with music, singing, and dance. Thus, the creation of capoeira.

Hey tanya1976, very good knowledge about it, thanx for the detailed info. One of my colleagues does capoeira and present it every time when we are doing a gig together. Every time when he des it. I´m thinking "Me too, me too"..but the problem is, I got to play the drums during the Capoeira, so .. Hmm.. maybe I can do a course or sth. like that "besides of work", that would be cool...
