Good evening ladies Now, has anyone read White Oleander? I just watched the film and was very impressed , Alison Lohman was incredible. I am quite eager to read the novel .
In fact I am at a loss at what book to read next , nothing seems to catch my attention, any ideas?

I started to read it years ago when it was on Oprah's Book Club , but I thought it was depressing, so I didn't finish it. My mom saw the movie. Have you seen "The Notebook"? The characters are so playful and alive! I liked it, but I cried. Have you read "Girl With a Pearl Earring"? I have a feeling that you have. It explains some things in further detail that the movie didn't, and it was a quick read.

Reading? Oooh, another favourite topic, along with music . ;D Ok, I've just finished up a full time job (took a package), so you you are all free to hate me, I've been hanging around avoiding going out into this cold, wet, winter with some fab books: The Bride Stripped Bare - AnonymousQuite wierd, but brilliant. A nameless new bride's journal of her life .. very confronting, it's written in second person - "You turn away. You feel crushed, but know you deserve it." type thing. Gets into your head a bit, but it's impossible to put down. Lots of Kerry Greenwood mysteries - Kerry is a Melbourne author and sets most of her books here, it's my home town, so I know all the places, adds a bit of fun. She's most famous for her Phryne Fisher mysteries set in the 1920's, and just put out a new book called Earthly Delights with a new heroine called Corinna Chapman, a baker who ends up solving a murder - it's great fun, and murder mysteries are a quick read. The Iliad & The Odyssey - Homer (Robert F agles translation) WOW - some stories just don't go out of date. Fantastic stuff. Action, character development, cruel gods, and more gory action. What more could a girl ask!? Some all time favourite authors, in no particular author: George Orwell, Poppy Z Brite, Laurens Van Der Post, Colin MacInnes, Kerry Greenwood, Colin Dexter (love Inspector Morse!!!), Irvine Welsh, Hanif Kureishi, Martha Grimes. Ta for the tips on GWAPE & White Oleander, I'll get those & give them a go. Cheers ~Ultra

The Outsiders written by S. E. Hinton is a superb novel which is mainly aimed at teenage readers but suitable for all.

Right now I'm reading Cerculen Sins, which is an anita blake novel..
I'm thinking I might take a break from it to read harry potter though.
I don't particularly want to rush through it, and I really want to read the new harry potter, like right now..
