Thanks Leslie for all the typing . It's interesting to read different opinions about the play. For anyone interested here's a link to a news clip about the play. There are brief clips of Cillian's performance and a couple of comments from Cillian. LOL about the shiny hair thing because he scrubbed up pretty well in the clip. www.rte.ie/news/2004/0303/nationwide/nationwide56_2a.smilbtw for me the clip only works in real player.

Hey, I completely missed that post! Thanks Pluto! I loved the bit about "young audiences" seeing this play! He is just irresistable, isn't he? Oh what I wouldn't give for this play to come to the states with him as the lead! *SIGH* BTW, did you guys notice him being much more relaxed with his interview for this play than his more recent ones!? His hand were on his hips. Again reminded of my speech class, that means he was comfortable and confident with what he was saying.

Watching the clip ...
I suppose everyone wins if Cillian attracts young women (or at the least, unorthodox audiences) to this play. I had never heard of it before and now I have checked it out of the library and intend to read it.
I have great respect for actors who start out in theatre and continue to do theatre even after they work in film. I love movies but I love theatre just as much.
Blue-Struck, you're right. He does seem a lot less shy than in some of the more recent clips.

He does seem more at ease in this clip - might be because he was in familiar surroundings with a reporter he had seen before. When he's in the States he's being interviewed by people and media outlets he most likely doesn't know or has never heard of and, since he doesn't like interviews and is a bit shy anyway, that probably makes him more uncomfortable.

I've started reading Playboy of the Western World. I'll give a proper review when I finish it.
