Ha ha, the deformity was not quite up to snuff. I have to agree to disagree with you Gerard Butler, but ... Yes, I can't deny that the movie "sexed" things up a bit. On a happier note, Raoul could sing and he looked absolutely homosexuel, which was a major plus for me, lol. LOL!

^I thought Emmy's voice was pretty... Definitely innocent. It just bothered me how one second she was wearing 0 eye makeup, and the next second she's got the whole makeup counter on. From what I understand, in the Mirror scene, she is still her innocent self ... the change in makeup is symbolic of her fantasy-world with the Phantom.

I think I would've found the movie a bit more believable if the Phantom wasn't played a hot guy who can't sing too well.

i laguh at your comment, bat... as true as it is... I think it wasn't until the end of the movie that he really started to show his true voice.. the one i came to love... Other than that, it was pretty amusing hearing gerard butler say "I was nervous, my knees were shaking at the audition!" or something similar!

I didn't think the Phantom was that hott. I remember seeing him in Closer where he played the "perv" and got tricked into cybering with Jude Law's character thinking it was Julia Roberts.
Yeah after that, he grossed me out.

Oh. For some reason I keep thinking Gerald Butler is Clive Owen. Nevermind me...

In an interview, Gerry [The Phantom] said that the make-up to be replusive, yet human. So, perhaps they down-played it a bit. I don't know. But when you get any film being re-made, or a book being made into a movie, etc. Not everything is going to be the same no matter what. Not only are book and film two different mediums, directors and writers probably put in their own imput.

Not only are book and film two different mediums, directors and writers probably put in their own imput. This is the heart of it. I don't know if you have been on any Phantom messageboards, Reverie, but huge fights erupt between the people who like the movie and the people who hate the movie. I think what you just wrote gets at the heart of why everyone should just sit down and take a breather.

I've seen those types of fights. Not about Phantom, but other things. They can get ugly, lol. So, I tend to try to avoid them. I won't deny that some people may make me mad saying something negative about something I like, or vice versa. But continuously arguing over it isn't really going to change much.
