Whatever you do, don't ever watch the TV show. It sucks to no end. I liked the tv show more than The Crow City of angels! I mean they had to bring Sarah into the story! didn't like that! the funny thing is I said that Mark Dacascos resembled Brandon

I never saw Crow 4, but if you thought that was good, watch the first one.......it rocks!!!!! so was the show good or bad? I like it! I mean it had Eric with attitude and with an edge. You can find the first 2 episodes on DVD (The Crow: Stairway to Heaven) I agree Eddie Furlong did a good Job, I also like how David Boreanaz played the bad guy, but whats with Dennis Hopper trying to be a pimp and talking that slang?! that I didn't like! they should used the shrunken head (like in the novel, his name was raymundo and he was surely funnier than the pimp in the movie)

I recommend you read the novel (which the film is based on) its called The Crow: Wicked Prayer by Norman Partridge, I bought it because it was a Crow novel but ending up loving the story! Poppy Z. Brite did a crow story as well, it took place in New Orleans and features the 1st Gay crow (the story is beautifully written). the name of that novel was The Crow: the Lazarus heart! Loved it, and The Crow: Clash By Night was also a good one! (can u tell I like anything that has to do with the crow!!)
(Clash by night was written by Chet Williamson if you'd like to look it up)
The Lazarus Heart by Poppy Z. Brite 256 pages, April 1998
At our human limits, when we've gone as far as flesh and imagination can take us, we meet the Eternal One. The Crow. Immemorially old, and inconsolable, he is there only for those who seek both revenge and love, and are willing to go all the way -- and beyond. Five, four, three, two...Jared Poe counts the days on Louisiana's Death Row. The controversial S&M photographer has been condemned to die for killing his lover. He doesn't know who did it. Only that he didn't.
Can he clear his name and find the real killer in time?
No. For this is no ordinary thriller. We are in the dark realm of The Crow, and Jared must feel the cold shudder of Death; must hear the beating of black wings; must prowl the shadowy goth netherworld of New Orleans, to prove he was no killer when he died.
And find out what kind of killer he has become.
Loved that book
also the most recent Crow novel is called The Crow:Hellbound, its a really different spin of the crow universe complete with demons and angels!
I highly recommend these books (didn't like Quoth the Crow that much!!)

I really disliked the show because I thought it was missing everything that was good about the movie. The movie is dark because Eric's reality is dark. What he's come back to do is dark. The decision to film the entire movie in dark settings was a really great decision, and part of what made this film so popular, if you ask me. The TV show often takes place in broad daylight, which is just weird. Also, Eric returned to seek vengeance for his fiancee and then to return to her. And in the TV, he's just a crime-fighting vigilante, which doesn't make sense to me. His return from the land of the dead was never supposed to be about fighting crime or injustice as a whole, it was just supposed to give him a chance to make things right for his fiancee so he could rest in peace. And the #1 thing that annoys me about the show is that when he gets angry, the face paint just appears on Eric's face like he's turning into the hulk or something. The scene in the movie where he paints his face is my favorite scene in the movie, one of my favorite scenes from any movie, and that concept just really ruins that for me.
So for the most part, the show just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I've always enjoyed this movie. I was at Hot Topic once and seen a collector's edition of the DVD in a spiffy box shaped like a headstone and also including a necklace with the crow symbol with "The Crow" on one side and "real love is forever" on the other. I wear the necklace pretty much all the time.
City of Angels was okay. It could have been a lot worse as far as sequels go. Salvation was better than City of Angels, in my opinion. I have a request for Wicked Prayer through the public library, but it hasn't come in yet.
