Yes it is very disturbing, but a brilliant film.
Did you see Pi as well?
also a good film by the same director.
If you bought Requiem For A Dream, Pi would have came with it.
I recommend you watch it at least once.
I also love the score from Requiem.
Sunshine uses it for their trailers.

OMG... My heart broke when I saw this movie! I had a really tough time seein it. Has it ever happen to you? You know... like, findin a movie that is so outstanding and brilliant but so overwhemingly tragical that you really can't bring yourself to see it again? Well Requiem for a Dream is that movie for me

I got really really depressed after seein this movie. I lost a close friend to cocaine addiction and Requiem for a Dream really hit me. Nevertheless, I think it is quite a masterpiece.

It wasn't about cocaine though.
It was mostly about heroin.
I am sorry about your loss. ;(
That is a tough thing to go through.
Drugs just suck. They just plain suck, and I can't believe some people want to legalize marijuna. Marijuina? {SP?} However that crap is spelled...
It's a gateway drug. Some people are just so stupid.

Well, heroin is not as popular as cocaine where I live. The point is that any drug happens to be the worst nightmare that sadly gets started as the most breathtakingly beautiful dream.

I haven't seen this whole film ... but I must and plan on it, what I saw made me wish to see more. The cast (Jared's top reason...but I like the others too), the stroy, everything. And lately I have become really obsessed with the score.

This movie was so intense, geez especially that sex scene with all the business men looking. MAN.. how could a girl put herself through that? But I really felt for the older lady. How she kept saying "I just wanted to be on television." - so sad. Great performances by all, even though I hate that little biatch Jared Leto.

I do feel for Sarah too. Of all the characters in this movie, she was the one who least deserved what she got. The others pretty much knew what they were gettin into, but Sarah didn't, she just wanted to be on tv. As for Marion, I felt really sorry for her degradation so that scene really hit me too.

I've seen it...the character of the mother makes me cry so much...thinking about her red dress makes me cry even now About the score: I first tought it was in sunshine (i didn't know it was in requiem and it was original). I felt disappointend when I saw sunshine because that music wasn't in it. Then, the same evening, after seeing sunshine, I watched requiem for a dream, and I was so surprised to find that score there. Then i made some searches on the web and discovered the score was named 'summer overture' and it was written just for requiem. I was so surprised that they use the music created for a movie in the trailer of another one (and now I associate it to sunshine and not to requiem for a dream). I think it's not really fair...I found out the same music was also used in the 'lord of the rings: the 2 towers' trailer!!! God!

Well same thing happened with Braveheart's theme and Castaway... my biggest dissapointment was when I heard the Scence of a Woman's music bein played in True Lies. I loved it soo much when I saw Al Pacino dancin tango to Por una Cabeza, but then Arnold Scharznegger had to ruin it for me

You know... like, findin a movie that is so outstanding and brilliant but so overwhemingly tragical that you really can't bring yourself to see it again? Well Requiem for a Dream is that movie for me I know what you mean. That film was so magnetic I couldn't look away. I've seen it twice. Once to see it and the second time because a friend of mine wanted to see it. I think that is all I could handle. As for Pi. That film messed me up. I could never watch it again. I love thought provoking films but that one scene has stayed with me. You know which scene I am talking about. You ever see My Own Private Idaho. That film really got to me too. It was so sad and River was a genius but it broke my heart. I can think of a handful of films that made me really try to understand the way the world is. The parts of the world we aren't part of. Requiem was one. Marlon Waynes suprised me in this film as well. So disturbing. The director Darren Aronofsky really captured the mind of a user and brought it to the person watching the film. Alot of distorted scenes. Wasn't he one of the first to put a camera on someones body to show that effect?

I can't tell, but the effect it got was brilliant. And yes I've seen My Own Private Idaho, I was 11 at that time. I totally fell in love with River Phoenix. and his amazing performance in this movie (it's a shame he died soo young). As for the rest, I probably shouldn't have seen it at 11, but anyway, it was worth it... even if it got me grounded for a week and a broken heart. Another movie that totally broke my heart is Boys Don't Cry

Boy's Don't Cry is a perfect example of one of those films. She was amazing!! It was so brutal but I think this film needed to be made. I remember watching a doc on Teena Brandon before the film was released. I remember thinking what kinda people let such small things lead them to such desperate acts. In the grand scale of life what TB did wasn't worth what they did to her. What ever happened to asking someone to leave? Intense film. That is why I love BOP. It really showed how one person could be who they were and accept who they were. No matter what. Kitten was all about love and really that is all that should fuel us. Respecting each other is so important that things like sexuality shouldn't be the deciding factor as to what makes a person who they are. Kitten could really touch people.
