I think we can all agree that Cillian Murphy is one of the most gifted actors of our time. He brought minself out of obscurity with relavant performances and ethereal good looks. He has played everything from Psychotic killers to survival heros, to trangendered beauties. He has yet to be typecast, officially recognized, or stuck in a bad roll. Why? What is the "it factor" that makes our man so amazing? Why do we love him so much?

He actually acts for the love of acting...not the perks that come with it.
He'd pretty damn good at it too, that's for sure.

Yeah he is! ;D I think one of the main reasons we love him, besides his looks and those amazing eyes of his , is because he's just...well so cool! I mean every performance he gives he does it with such perfection and his characters are some of the most interesting and complex I've seen. And also because on a personal level, when are we ever going to see Cillian in the tabloids? I'm pretty sure hell would freeze over first. He doesn't go out and do stupid things that alot of these "celebrity's" always seem to be doing. He is very private about his life and his family and doesn't flaunt what little fame and recognition he has. Basically, he's just your average guy who loves acting and is amazingly good at it, and I think that for those reasons his fans, like myself love him so much, he's someone you can really look up to as an actor, and you can't say that about many famous people now. Cillian just rocks what he does!

I think it is because he is so versitile and believable in all of his roles. no matter how big or small the performance, he delivers everything he has. He good looks give him an...unusual beauty inensified by his blue eyes that seem to pierce right through you. he is just wonderful!

I think his looks are secondary to his talent. I first saw Cillian in BOP, do I didn't really see his looks. Sure I thought, "wow this guy makes a pretty girl", but I didn't really focus on his looks. After BOP I saw Red Eye and thought wow what a looker. His talent and his views on the whole fame thing are what impress me with Cillian, his looks are just extra.

he is amazing and i love the fact that he doesn't do it for the fame but for his love of acting. He doesn't need all the attention he just wants the film to be good! he is a truely gifted man! who one day i would love to meet!

He has yet to be typecast, officially recognized, or stuck in a bad roll. Er, I think I'd have to disagree with this part. While Cillian certainly does well with independant films, I think one film critic was correct in saying that Cillians tends to be casted as evil guys in Hollywood-made movies. I'm glad he's decided to don the mask of Scarecrow again, most definitely. But I think Cillian was right in telling that interviewer that he was going to stay away from villians for awhile. I'd hate for Cillian to be seen as a great actor in other parts of the country but be viewed only as a the 'evil guy with cool eyes' in the states. I think what he needs now is a major American film that will show the American audience that he can do other powerful roles. Here's hoping Peac*ck is the answer to that question. As for the 'it' factor, I think it all comes down to his talent. He's able to blend from one character to the next. I've constantly had to remind myself that "this" is Cillian... not Damien, not Dr. Crane, not Jack, not Kitty. I mean, damn, Cillian can really lose himself to his character that I tend to forget he's the cute guy with piercing blue eyes. ;D

I say it's definitely the acting. I've never seen a guy more versatile and effective in his roles than him. It's pure talent and it's beautiful. The fact that it's paired with his other-worldy good looks is just a bonus.
