Hello everybody I would like to discover precisely how we know about Cillian's vegetarism: did he talk about it in an interview, or someone gave this information etc? Does someone know the reasons why he decided to be so ( for meat's taste, ethical reasons, moral ones, etc...) I'm very curious about that Thanks for those informations, Best wishes CV

Yes, and I was also wondering how much of a vegetarian he is. Like does he not eat anything that comes from animals at all, is it just meat or does he eat only some meat? I'm just curious too of course, not like I'll be serving him dinner. ( I wish)

i haven't read many articles in which he explicitly talks about his vegetarianism, except for one in which he stated his reason as being opposed to the meat economy and its effect on the world and environment. If you're just looking for confirmation, you can google "cillian murphy vegetarian" and you'll see a lot of articles saying,"Althought he is a vegetarian, he learned how to chop meat for his role in GWTPE." love those veggie boys...

his reason as being opposed to the meat economy and its effect on the world and environment.... Very great indeed. I would be very interested to read that. Actually, i found many pages indeed about his role in La Jeune Fille à la Perle where he's a butcher ( I hate this movie, so boring, just to say that) but no interview. As I've been a vegetarian too for a very long time myself, i'm very interested about that, and I enjoyed the fact he is a convinced vegatarian. Best wishes, CV

He said that he doesn't eat meat because of all these dirty agribusiness practices, like factory farming. And I agree. I don't support factory farming either. I'll admit that I believe a life without hamburgers is a life not worth living, chicken enchiladas are vital to my survival, and no Korean worth their salt can survive without samgyeopsal (thinly sliced pork belly used in Korean barbecue). But I make sure that I buy organic meat, or at least meat where the animals weren't being cooped up in cramped little cages in dirty conditions. That's my philosophy of food.

I agree with Cillian. If I could I would probably not eat very much meat at all. But I love sea food and the occasional hamburger too. ;D Other than that I'm not really much of a meat eater, unless its on pizza!

I'm a meat eater, but I have no problem with veggies. I just hate it when they start trying to "convert" me, just like it would annoy them if I tried to get them to eat meat. I'd actually like to start cutting out a lot of red meat because I always get heartburn after eating it.

I agree, I don't like people pressuring me to do things, more people would probably be vegetarians if they weren'r hassled by them

I tried being a vegetarian before because i love animals and just don't like the thoughts of the ways they're killed. It didn't really work though because my mam cooks all the dinners and stuff and it wasn't fair asking her to make me seperate meals. I couldn't make them cause i'm in college and stuff so then i wasn't really eating healthy and obviously when you're cutting out meat you have to make sure you get all the nutrients from other sources. So i gave up and went back to meat. I plan on trying again when i'm older and i'm cooking my own meals and so on. Hopefully it'll work out better!

It feels like being converted into a cult or something, lol. Back to the topic, I think wikipedia mentioned Cillian being a vegetarian for ethical reasons (though, it's wikipedia so take it with a grain of salt). I consider him to be one of the cool vegetarians. He could use his status as an actor to convert ppl, thereby, coming off as a jerk like Tom Cruise. Instead, though, he keeps his eating habits on a low-profile. He's gotta be one of the most modest actors in the industry. Now, if only the other actors would follow his example. (looks at Tom Cruise and wags her finger in disapproval)

Yeah, I eat meat, but I think that Cillian's reasons for not eating are pretty cool. I just don't like it when people tell me "oh the poor little animals." Jeez. Buy organic or free range. Don't just tell me about the "poor little animals." Hah.
