I know! Only a month, I thought that was really odd... Hmmm I wonder when it will come out then? I have a feeling right around the same time Sunshine does

Some films are just a lot more complicated to film than others. If there are a lot of special effects and a big budget, it might take longer than something that has to be shot quickly due to a lower budget. Movies that don't have a lot of different sets and locations can also be filmed more easily than projects where they have to keep moving the cast, or key cast members, to new locations.

Also, this movie is the director's first. Did you any of you guys ever see Project Greenlight with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. It takes a lot of efforts from many different people to make a film and sometimes, the production companies don't like to give a first time director a lot of money to make the film and they don't usually get a big budget b/c they aren't aware of their capabilities yet. This could play a factor in why film time was so short. But maybe it could also be b/c they are moving to a new location or a soundstage or something. It wrapped in NY, but maybe the entire film didn't wrap up.

It's not Paul Soter's first project, just the first one he's writing and directing under his own name. He's done some other movies under the name Broken Lizard. Actually, Broken Lizard is a group of people who've been involved in the following movies:
From IMDB:
Watching the Detectives (2007) (post-production)
Beerfest (2006) (written by) (as Broken Lizard) Club Dread (2004) (written by) (as Broken Lizard) ... aka Broken Lizard's Club Dread (USA: complete title) Super Troopers (2001) (written by) (as Broken Lizard) ... aka Broken Lizard's Super Troopers (USA) Puddle Cruiser (1996) (written by) (as Broken Lizard)
Filmography as: Writer, Actor, Director, Miscellaneous Crew
Just checked again, WTD is the first time he's directed. He does seem to have been around the movie business for awhile. There's an interview with him, as Broken Lizard, on AICN, but he's talking about Beerfest. I didn't read the whole thing, so I don't know if he talks about WTD or not, but he was promoting Beerfest at the time (a couple of weeks ago, at ComicCon).
I'm guessing this film doesn't have a huge budget, and probably a lot of that went to Cillian and Lucy.

im not tryin to sound like a jerk but all his movies suck! Beerfest...yeah that looks soo dumb on the preveiws and Super Troopers wasn't that funny. i hope it won't be cheesy like his past movies, cillian doesn't strike me as someone who will play a cheesy role.

I get the feeling this one is a bit different from the rest. The others, and future projects, sound like they would appeal mostly to young men (perhaps *very* young men) but from what I've read the plot of WTD should appeal to a much wider audience.
I think Beerfest is one of those rare titles, like Snakes on a Plane, that tells you exactly what the movie is about. You'll know from the title alone whether you want to see it, or avoid it like the plague.

Haha, interview with Paul: suicidegirls.com/interviews/Paul+Soter+director+of+Watching+the+Detectives/ DRE:What scene are you shooting today?
Paul:Lucy’s character plays a lot of mind games with Cillian. She’s constantly trying to keep him on unstable footing so she told him that there’s this bald unpredictable violent ex-boyfriend who chases her from town to town whenever she moves. Now he’s seeing big bald guys everywhere. He goes out to get a newspaper and there’s a bald guy out there. He goes in the video store and there’s a bald customer that’s very suspicious. Today we’re shooting him in a movie theatre and there’s a guy sitting behind him, a big obnoxious bald guy. It ends up being Cape Fear with that idea of the big obnoxious guy sitting behind you ruining your good time in the movies. Periodically throughout the movie she starts to make him feel like he is in a movie. This guy loves movies and what this woman is doing to him is turning his life into series of scenes from movies and it sounds like it would be perfect but it starts to really drive him crazy.

The first Saw was (<<heh, backwards) filmed in 13 day. It's not really surprising that it only took a month to film.
