Okay okay. By request, this one is LONG. Over 3 pages in Microsoft Word. There is one instance of cussing and it does get sexy. Hahah. Highly entertaining chapter, I hope.

And an editorial note, when Jackson says "Lis", it's his nickname for her like he used in the movie. How he says, "Lease".

Chapter Five

So many questions darted Jackson’s mind of who, what, where, when, why, and how. There was only a solid wall of concrete and tile separating him from Lisa, Bryan, and Sasha. 3 people, that on his life, he wished he’d never see again. Of course, he’d came back to save Lisa but, he couldn’t say part of his little surprise visit wasn’t for revenge too. He was torn between right and wrong, good Jackson versus bad Jackson, just like their head-butting incident on the plane from a year ago. Lisa lied; Jackson head-butts her. Bad. She wakes up with a terrible headache; He gives her aspirin. Good. He didn’t understand his emotions towards this woman and he wasn’t sure he ever would.

Jackson turned to his side and let the heat in his strongly-accented cheeks touch the cool, tile wall. He took a look at his watch trying to calculate the time between the current time and 6pm, when he had his ‘meeting’ with Lisa.

5:53. 7 minutes.

Before anything else, he needed to get away from the space beside her doorway because he knew if they came walking out and he was standing right there, all hell would break loose and after he just almost had a heart attack from seeing them, he didn’t need anymore surprises. He looked around trying to find a safe haven, somewhere where he could hide and nothing would be suspected of him. Jackson scanned the hallway and all the other doorways until he spotted the men’s room.

Perfect.

His watch changed to 5:55, as he quickly walked off to the men’s room. He busted open the door and silently walked in. It was vacant, except there was one other man in a stall. Jackson walked over in front of the mirror and took the black sunglasses off. He didn’t even recognize the fear-stricken blue eyes staring back at him. Jackson looked down to the counter and suddenly saw a security belt sitting on the counter. He wondered if it belonged to the other man in the restroom, if he was security. Jackson checked through the belt until he found a pistol. He let his hand feel along the cool metal of the gun and quickly, he put it in his inner coat pocket.

“The Lux has some security,” he thought in sarcasm.

He quickly slipped his black sunglasses back on and walked out the bathroom door, as soon as he heard the toilet flush. He headed in the opposite direction of Lisa’s office, as he saw the door start to open and Bryan came walking out of Lisa’s office. Jackson walked faster in the opposite direction, pulling out his cell phone. He quickly dialed the number to the boss.

”Talk to me,” the deep voice said, as he always did.

”I’m at the Lux. I’ve just spotted Lisa and I needed to check with you as far as details of the whole cruise plan.”

”Alan Browne and company are to be invited onto a dinner cruise tomorrow night before he leaves town Friday. The boat will leave Miami at 7pm and arrive back around 9:45, with one less passenger, per say,” the voice said, throwing in a rough laugh. “Make Lisa get him on that cruise. If needed, Lisa will accompany him on the cruise.”

Jackson was still frantically walking in the opposite direction, looking behind him every 5 seconds.

”How are you planning on…”

Jackson didn’t finish, afraid that someone would hear him.

”Killing him?” the boss laughed. “Poison, Jackson. Silent, but deadly.”

Jackson swallowed hard.

”Okay, sir. I’ve got you covered and I won’t let you down,” Jackson said, breathing heavy from walking so fast.

”You better not, Jackson. You’re lucky I’m giving you another chance. Everyone else in your position would have been dead by now.”

Jackson stopped walking and put his cell phone back in his pocket.

”Again, another bad note to end a conversation on,” he thought.

He turned around facing the direction from which he came and straightened his suit. Jackson took a deep breath and started walking again. With every tap of his perfectly shined shoes against the floor, his heart began beating faster. He walked around the corner of the hallway and saw Lisa’s door was now opened and Bryan and Sasha were nowhere in sight. One foot at a time, he was gradually getting closer and closer. Right in front of her doorway, he stopped. There in front of him, was Lisa Reisert. Her back was to him, as she was busily arranging things in her filing cabinet. Jackson smiled a little. She hadn’t changed one bit, since the last time they had their encounter. She still had the same loosely curled auburn hair and the young businesswoman clothes that fit her to a tee. Adrenaline sent his body on an overload as he stepped inside of her office and shut the door behind him. The click of the lock on the door caught her attention and made her turn around. He slipped his glasses off and threw them on a nearby chair. She let out a womanly shriek and began breathing heavily.

”Nice to see you too, Lisa,” Jackson said sarcastically, pulling the pistol out of his pocket.

”No… no… no…” Lisa said, on the verge of a panic attack.

”Did you REALLY think that you were just gonna leave me on the verge of dying in your father’s house and I wouldn’t come back to give you a piece of my mind?” Jackson said, becoming harsher and harsher with his tone, cutting her phone line with a pair of scissors off of Lisa’s desk and taping a piece of computer paper over the window in the door.

He looked at Lisa with a villainous smirk on his face, as he started creeping towards her, behind her desk. Lisa dropped the file and backed up as far as she could go, into a wall that she didn’t know was so closely behind her. Jackson slowly walked up to her, the smile creeping even bigger across his face. Lisa looked terrified and Jackson felt accomplished. He pressed into her, letting every curve of their bodies touch, as he intertwined their legs and feet, so that she couldn’t get away this time. Lisa just looked down at the floor, feeling completely helpless once again, as she began to feel suffocated by the crushing of his chest against hers. He put his pistol in his coat pocket and took his hand to lift her chin back up, so that their eyes met.

”So, it comes back to this,” Jackson said, with his breathe brushing across her face and his sharp, blue eyes delved into hers.

”It didn’t have to come back to this. You just made it this way. What are you going to do? Try to discover another scar on me?” Lisa said, gasping for air.

Jackson suddenly grabbed her shoulders with his firm hands and slammed her back into the wall with immense force. She fell into him, almost unconscious from the force itself. Her eyelids fluttered from opened to closed, trying to snap herself back into reality. Out of pure amusement, Jackson put his hand firmly around Lisa’s neck.

”Wrong answer,” Jackson whispered, letting his lips brush her ear, teasing her.

Lisa coughed repetitively, gasping for air, squirming under Jackson’s touch.

”Fff…u…ck,” she said under her breath.

”Okay. We’ll start off with the easy questions, Lis. What were the Greenley’s doing here?”

Lisa put her hand around Jackson’s wrist, trying to pull his hand off of her neck. He grabbed her other hand, and intertwined their fingers, holding her hand at her side with a firm grip, so she didn’t try anything. Jackson tightened his grip around her neck, waiting for an answer. Lisa began gagging uncontrollably.

”Th.. ey wan…t to s…tay here f…or their ann..i..ver..sar…y,” she managed to say in a weak voice. “He… wa…s ref…erred b…by Kee…eefe,” she said gasping for air.

“Are you lying to me?”

”Nuh…no,” she replied.

Jackson saw the terror on her face and loosened his grip around her neck, as she continued to pant.

”Question two. You know Alan Browne, don’t you?”

”No…”

Jackson tightened his grip once again around her neck and pressed even harder into her, sharing erratic heartbeats with each other.

”See. NOW you’re lying to me,” Jackson said, becoming frustrated. “One more chance, Lis. You know Alan Browne, don’t you?”

Lisa swallowed hard and her eyes began to water from the constriction on her throat.

”Yes… I kno…now him.”

”Great. You and I are going to go have a little chat,” Jackson said letting go of her neck but, still leaning forcefully into her.

Lisa began coughing again, trying to regain her breath.

”What is there to chat about?” she said, struggling.

”One. Somebody’s trying to kill you. I’m here to be your knight in shining armor,” Jackson said in sarcasm. “And two, let’s just say there’s some things that we need to get straightened out. But, having at chat in your office is a little too obvious. I was thinking room 4080 instead,” Jackson said, in a forceful whisper.

Lisa froze. Immediately, she recognized those digits. The digits of the room Keefe stayed in. The ‘somebody’s trying to kill you’ line didn’t affect her because she didn’t trust Jackson one bit.

”I wouldn’t be caught dead with you, not to mention walking through this hotel with you,” Lisa spat at him.

”Well, Lis, I would change that frame of mind, unless you want everyone in this hotel to be dead with you.”

”You wouldn’t…” Lisa said.

”Do you want to try me?” Jackson said, aggravated.

There was silence, as Lisa studied Jackson’s eyes, less than an inch from her face. She knew from the glare in his icy, blue eyes that he was serious and nothing short of it.

”Have you ever considered that people are going to be suspicious of this after the whole Keefe trial? Walking around a hotel together?”

”Many people know my name, not what I look like, Lis. Plus, nobody will be suspicious of you, if you’re walking around with your boyfriend.”

Lisa looked puzzled and extremely confused.

”Excuse me?” She paused. “I don’t even have a boyfriend, Jack,” Lisa said.

Jackson’s temper flared a tiny bit from being called Jack. But, he caught himself.

”That’s where I come in,” he replied.

”I don’t get where you’re going with this…”

”We’re dating now. That’s our excuse. That’s my excuse. That’s your excuse.”

Lisa’s eyes widened at him.

”You can’t be serious,” she told him in complete disbelief.

Jackson’s conscious kept telling him no, for what he was about to do but, he didn’t listen. Jackson suddenly grabbed her neck again and Lisa tried taking it away by grabbing his wrist once again.

”I am…” Jackson said, whispering to her, as he let his lips brush hers, yet not kissing her.

Things stopped. Lisa pushed him away, squirming, and completely confused.

What just happened?

Lisa just looked at him, not even knowing what to feel.

”Why did you…” Lisa couldn’t finish her sentence.

”Don’t ask questions. That how you’ve ended up here in the first place,” Jackson spat at her, quickly letting go of her neck. “Now, about that chat. I believe we’re headed to room 4080, Ms. Reisert,” he said, pulling her with him with the hand that he had pinned to her side.

He slipped his sunglasses back on.

”Do you have a key?” Jackson asked.

Lisa felt around in her jacket pocket for a universal key.

”Yeah… I think so,” Lisa answered, still confused.

Jackson turned around to face her at the door, putting his hand on her face.

”Once we walk out there, don’t get cute. Keep in mind, I’m the one with pistol. All you have to do is sell it. Just like on the airplane from a year ago. You do remember, don’t you?” Jackson said, sarcastically.

Lisa cut her eyes in anger at Jackson, as bad memories flooded her head.

”Good,” Jackson said, not waiting for an answer, as he held Lisa’s hand against her will and they walked out the door into the hotel towards the elevator.
