Looking for a Beta

Well, that's not a very good way to make a first impression...*ahem*

So, um, hi everyone! First time poster, long time stalker of the site, but I've never creates an account due to the fact I just didn't have much to say... But now I find myself in something of a pinch. Apologies if this happens to be in the wrong section. N00bism is such an awkward phase in life...

I was attacked by a pack of ravenous plotbunnies today, and they implanted an idea for a RedEye fanfic in my brain that I can't seem to dig out. But, since I think it might work out, I plan on giving into the buggers and attempt this thing... Only problem is I'm short a beta.

So, to make a long request short, anyone interested in being the beta for my fic?

My main concern would be a beta who can check for grammar...can't say it's always been my forte. But, also, I need someone who might be able to help me nudge Jackson's character in the right direction if he starts going astray. So, anyone who thinks they have a real grasp on Jackson's twisted innerworkings would be much appreciated. I also need someone who can haul my arse into gear if I begin to slack off.

What is the fic about? My main goal in it is to try to build a relationship with Jackson and Lisa based on their interaction in the movie and make it believable, yet not overdone. Toss in a mix of a crime ring out for Lisa's life after she overhears one of their newest plots, a bunch of Jackson's geeky college buddies and a (hopefully) interesting twist on Jackson's childhood, I hope to create something unique for the fandom. Judging from your very unique intro re your first post, I have no doubt you'll be very accomplished - I love the premise. Feel free to shoot anything my way if you like, I can't say I'm a Jackson 'expert' only that I've watched the film 237 times, and written a few fanfics myself (of the HR variety). I've tried to get at what inspires and motivates the man to do what he does, but by the same token, I realize I may be changing the original and making him into what I sense might be the underlying Jackson - the real guy, who perhaps isn't as damaged and sociopathic as the film/script version...

...maybe he still has some of those same elements to a degree -- but my motivation is having him overcome those tendencies, and to have him at war with himself over Lisa and what he feels for her.

If that's up your alley, I'd be happy to lend an ear and offer suggestions.

Evil nasty Jackson who gets his, and has no redeeming qualities I can't really weigh in on, but I'm still a fan of any and all fanfic.

I can always help with grammar questions; I'm in the middle of another person's Cillian fic right now, but I would be happy to help you.

Besides, you KNOW how much I like exploring the Lisa/Jackson dynamic. I am always interested in looking at the way they deal with each other in a realistic fashion.

As far as the actual story goes, I've been inching along in the prologue, but I haven't exactly had that spark of ignition to really get it rolling. This fic is also competing for attention with another I have going right now (that also has first priority), so updates might be slow-going. I hope to get it up sometime soon... Keep an eye out for it! The title will be "House of Cards", and I hope it holds it own among to RedEye fandom.
