If you've heard the Dave Fanning RTE interview (Aug 2004) with our man, it turns out that he's a major music fan and sounds like he'd still rather be a rock star than actor. Cillian professes to be a big fan of Frank Zappa & John Lennon, and played a lot of quite romantic , laid back music on the radio show. He seems to be quite a 'softy' as Puggems2 put it recently. So what about you? Would he love your record collection, or run screaming? I'll start - he'd HATE just about everything in my house. Ok, here's what I'm listening to right now, and can highly recommend to one & all:David Bowie - www.davidbowie.com/U2 - www.u2.com/u2.htmlMuse - muse.mu/Basement Jaxx - www.basementjaxx.co.uk/index5.htmKila - www.kila.ie/default.asp Irish trad, they are GREAT live, seen them at Womad this year and am totally hooked. Shooglenifty - www.shoogle.com/ mad Scots, again quite trad folkies, but you can't help but dance your bum off, they are brilliant & great fun. Gail Ann Dorsey - www.gailanndorsey.com/index2.php Brand new site just launched last week! ;D She's gorgeous, and has an AMAZING voice - you really must have a listen, there are a couple of downloads here too. Diamanda Galas - www.diamandagalas.com/ Can yo tell by now that I have a thing about distinctive vocalists? Bjork - www.bjork.com/ (not sure if this is an official site or not- ?) new cd out soon, can't wait! The Drown - www.thedrown.com/ newish UK Goth/Industrial - and they cover a Bowie song. Love 'em. ;D And a few old faithfuls never too far from the player, though they haven't done much lately that I've liked: Radiohead,The Who, Einsteurzende Neubauten, Tori Amos. So there are my recommendations for now, how about yours? Cheers ~Ultra

Ultra , you have a fantastic taste in music, what are you on about! I love Diamanda Galas what a mad old boot she is! I guess I love just about everything, from the obscure to the sugar coated pop that rides the charts these days . The only thing I despise is that awful metal/toy punk /rap crap.Bands like Linkin Park and those other cookie cutter idiots(Whoah now....I should stop before I start with the haterade!) should be hung drawn and quartered! The progression of punk is embarrassing , sid vicious would be turning in his grave So on rotation at the moment: Doobie Brothers,supertramp,depechemode,diamondhead,def leppard,sunn o))),lightning bolt,fleetwood mac,samba ,echo and the bunnymen,siousxie,slayer,mr vegas,wayne smith,fairport convention,slapp happy ,acr, the chiffons,the makeup,gary glitter,can,rufus wainwright,maw,dolly, morrissey, the smiths, cat power, smog , jim o rourke , talking heads,turbonegro,tortioise and bathory. hmmm..I wonder if Cillian will be asked to compile an i tunes playlist in the near future?

HELL-o! If we start on the music subject, it would be helpful for us to mention what country we live in on our profile, don't cha think? Lately, I'm ashamedly having a flashback of the 80s, and have even been listening to Billy Idol, Cyndi Lauper, and Blondie (er, the 70s, too )...I do this every few years. Ultra: Right on to The Who (are you a mod or a rocker?) and other influential 60s rock-- I love the oldies! Radiohead is relaxing. Bjork is a doll! I had never heard of The Drown-- checked out their Website because the Goth/Industrial tag caught my eye, and I'm interested! thanx- ;D Music I don't care for is country, gangsta rap, and pop R&B like pdiddy, usher; brit & all her look alikes, you get the picture... I enjoy movie scores (instramentals) when I am relaxing. An ol' favorite band of mine is The Cranes--such an innocent, but erie sound. When I'm up, Ska is FUN (especially live!) and makes me happy! But local punk and ska bands are hard to come by anymore; folk rock is making a comeback in my area. Hey Gracey, SlapHappy was a local ska band in my area, back around '96, when bands like Less Than Jake were big, but I'm sure you're referring to a different group... And, , I've been listening to Smashing Pumpkins "1979", again, strictly so I can picture Cillian on his bike from OTE. Weird, huh... Oh, what the hey, as Tek's logo goes, "I dream of Cillian."

So far the musical preferences are great! Cillian Murphy fans have good taste! Puggems , I love a good old 80's flashback! Echo and the Bunnymen, Siouxie, Joy Division ,Depeche Mode, Adam and the Ants and the Cocteau twins are current office faves . (ex goth/artschool workforce!). Oh and Slap Happy , yeah I know of the band that you're talking about I used to love them and Op Ivy!Slapp happy is actually a bizarre folk/rock band from the 60's , the singer has a voice quite like Kate Bush, who I also think is genius! Does anyone like 'this mortal coil?' Oh and in answer to your location question puggems ...I am in NewYork City!

All wonderful and sophisticated tastes here, ladies! I must say I'm quite impressed. I, too, have been listening to nothing but 80's tunes. Roxy Music in particular. Am looking forward to seeing the Pixies and The Cure in a few weeks (not at the same time...but would be cool and it would save me a trip to the city.)

Oh, Gracey!!!!!! Don't even get me started on Operation Ivy! 'Back in the day' good memories, good shows...nuttin' is the same. Am I getting old, or does da scene suck. Granted, I do live in a fairly small town. (Roanoke, VA)...and I am a mom, now... You know you're getting old when the younger crowd is listing off bands that you've never heard of!

Op Ivy , Skankin pickle ,glowskulls, early bosstones. I grew up listening to ska. I love the early skinhead stuff too, like max romeo etc...how silly to think the whole skinhead movement started out with working class reggae lovers and mutated into something quite the opposite. I love proper skinhead boys !The styling is superb. Anyone out there like gang of four/wire/a certain ratio/esg/..... I really need to listen to some new acts any suggestions? secret machines? The Kills? Do you think the libertines will change the word? gracey ;

You gals rock! ;D Gracey, can I come & work with you? I like the sound of your office. Some great stuff mentioned above, and I LOVE 80's stuff.. just not on a kick for it at the moment, but I have LOADS of Adam Ant, Duran Duran, Icehouse, Eurythmics, etc. I'll have to dig some out now! heh Totally agree with the country, any kind of hip/hop or rap stuff, and the "cookie cutter" (good way to put it!) pop & 'nu metal'. Tragic waste of radio & music tv space as far as I'm concerned. I mean, you can make throway pop music that isn't a total insult, but so much stuff around lately sounds exactly the same it's not funny. I never listen to radio any more, at all. All of my new music finds are from seeing live shows, or recommendations - which is why when I mention fave bands I always try to include a link to a site with mp3s for folk to sample. Puggems, glad you like The Drown! I know those guys (a bit) from BowieNet. Looking forward to hearing their new singer, they've got someone new in for the next album. Just realised I left Kate Bush off my list - oops! Wish she'd release something new. Cheers! ~Ultra

Oh, I like Franz Ferdinand's debut that I picked up a couple of weeks ago. I love the tempo changes in "Take Me Out"; a very fun song! You know how Lyn (lady of Raven-Wing site) has done her own music videos of 28DL and OTE? Well, I have imagined in my mind a video of Disco Pigs to the song "auf achse", and during the breakdown, I hear the overvoice of Pig saying "She's mine!" Maybe one day she'll do a DP video. And if you haven't visited the Raven Wing site, definately check it out through the links on Cillian-Murphy.com!

Placebo ( this is a english band, i´ve taken on of their song for the 28 Days later vid ;D ... i´ve seen them two times last year and i can say their shows are really great and you can rock up till you been done up) Linkin Park (I think you know them, do you?? i´ve taken a song of them, too... for a vid ... runaway for ON THE EDGE ;D ) Goethes Erben (this is a german band, where you can really say they have merited this name for the lyrics of them... okay, they sing or speak everything in german, but it´s really philosophical) Corvus Corax (one of the few medieval bands i know... you´ve the feelings you´re back in the medieval time... they plays only with old and own handicafed instruments) Metallica (heavy metal pure and the one and only expensivest gigs i´ve ever visited ) i dunno what he would thinking about my musictaste, but at first he would screaming then he would runs away *lol*
