It's now been announced. Andrew Lloyd Webber is creating the sequel to the Phantom of the Opera. It will be called The Phantom of Manhattan. www.andrewlloydwebber.com/sections/news/videodiary/diary-mar-07/index.php?section=newsPersonally, I have a very strong disaproval of it, but what do you think? " Iam not particularly a fan of sequels... Disney ruined Lion King and now Webber's going to ruin Phantom. I say, don't spoil the story! Don't re-write or add on to a story that has touched the lives of so many people for so many years! If something is meant to have a sequal, it the writer would have known from the beginning; Gaston Leroux did not intend for there to be a second part to his story, and so there should not be one. (Esp. for everyone who belives that the phantom was actually real. Writing a completely fictional saga as a continuation of his life is insulting.) "

I can't picture. I may be wrong, but I'll be waiting to see it crash and burn.

Ugh, don't even get me started. ALW has gone off the deep end. Phantom of Manhattan, of all things, is probably one of the worst things I have ever read...
*weeps for her fandom*

Well, I've known about this for a while and I disapprove strongly. Phantom of Manhattan really was no good. Webber should know better than to ruin the Phantom legacy by coming up with this sequel.

The title itself is a laughingstock! The Phantom of Manhattan? Reminds me of the Maid in Manhattan movie. Lol.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.
I never read Phantom of Manhatten, but I heard it's pretty much complete crap. I love PotO, but I'm not thrilled with the idea of a sequal, even less that he's basing it off something that's horrible on its own. If he was so intent on making a sequal, he should at least give his fans the dignity of writing one of his own.

... ugh.
(although, I admit, I liked Lion King 2.)
