I know you guys love this forum very much, but lets face it, there's no one here to take care of it properly like it should be. This place has had alot of loyal fans and I would hate to see you guys all go away. So since Shannon won't let anyone be the new administrator what would you guys think of me making my own Cillian forum and letting all of you move there? Please leave comments and tell me what you think.

As far as I know, this forum was the original one online for Cillian. This is where people come first, and old users will still come back to check in sometimes. And all the old conversations are here, searchable.
The bottom line is that even if you start another forum, this forum will still exist, and many people will still come here, despite it having no admin. The last time I saw a new forum started, it never got off the ground, and now it's gone. That's because it spreads everyone too thin -- there are other forums with dedicated posters too, and yours would be yet another one.
So while you're free to start your own forum, and indeed it may come to that, I'd suggest following through first on Plan A to try to get Shannon to do right by this forum. The petition hasn't been sent to her yet as far as I know. She doesn't yet know that everyone here would like her to hand the keys to someone who will do the job.

I agree- and perhaps if someone showed Shannon the carnage wreaked by "wowposter" last night, she would take a little pity on the forum she abandoned. Let's hope.
If this place goes completely to hell, I suppose I could join another forum if it got started, but I admit to being sentimental about this one.

I received a reply from Shannon : she thanked me for the email and said she is surprised someone is still using the forum. She still feels she could not give anybody else the administrative powers because the board is still linked to the site she owns, but said she's coming here to nominate an active moderator.

She's so absent she doesn't even know you're using this forum! She said the same thing to me a year ago -- that she thought the forum was "dead" -- when The CillianSite Collective first offered to administrate. And that, my friends, is completely not true. It's an illogical explanation/excuse of her own making. cillianONLINE has nothing to do with this forum whatsover. Jo, the late, original owner of this forum owned cillianmurphy.com, and Shannon created cillianONLINE later. There is no "link". This is a free proboards forum and cillianONLINE is not. And cillianONLINE has been inactive for over two YEARS, so what does it matter anyway? Basically, Shannon cannot let go, even though she has no interest in this forum. Sorry that she's still not big enough of a person to let go of something she doesn't even use. I doubt this is what Jo intended: an administrator who doesn't even pay attention. Will this thread or others on this subject be deleted soon? Watch and see... |
