hello there

I'm sure this has been asked many times, (so please forgive me) but i've looked and cant find what i'm after.
What i'd really like is a video sig (of a movie clip).

There are a couple of vid sigs i've seen on here (from Batman Begins) which are amazing, and when I see them, I cant look away!!

Is there any free software that anyone can recommend which I can use to create one of my own?
I'm a bit of a novice but keen to learn, and am not asking for a walkthrough, just a good starting point.
Any tips gratefully received.
