Dear Cillian Lovers,
Just something i thought i'd bring something to your attention. I think it would be best if members set their e-mail addresses to hidden, so that nobody can see it and therefore use it to contact you.
If it's public then anyone who stops by this forum, even for the shortest period of time, has access to your address if they decide to take a look through the members. Recently we had someone use a personal e-mail to contact a member regarding the forum and we'd like to avoid this in the future.
If you don't know how to change your e-mail setting you go to your "Profile"and then you should be able to see whether your e-mail address is currently set as public or hidden. If it's public then i'd advise you to change it to private. To do this, hit "Modify Profile" and then scroll down to "Account Preferences". You should be able to see "Hide E-mail", then just change it to yes. Of course it's up to you all individually, i'm just informing everyone in light of what happened recently.
Regards, Razz.

Many thanks for the alert Razz, much appreciated! I couldn't remember whether or not I'd set mine to hidden or not so just checked! Though I had nothing to worry about, always good to be aware of these things. Does this rule extend to members voluntarily giving their email address to others by pm if they choose to do so? Or does this just apply to displaying email address details in public on here? I'm inclined to believe it's the latter going by what you said, but just wanted to check anyways!

No feel free to give out your e-mail to members if you want to, i'm sure we can all trust each other. But when it's not set as hidden that means any random person, who isn't even a member would be able to see it. Also, i'm not saying anyone has to put their address on private if they don't want to, just letting you know that we did have someone we don't know use a members e-mail to get in contact.
