Hiya, been reading the board for a few weeks now but was reluctant to join up. But then i needed to ask this question to someone in the know and thought you guys were probably best The Spanish release of Sunburn, the region 2 DVD release, can anyone confirm that it is over dubbed? It states on the Amazon (UK) website that the language on the DVD is English and Spanish. So i'm assuming that means you choose the language soundtrack? A thousand thank yous if anyone can help

I am not completely sure about this and I bet someone might know a lot more...
But I have a few DVD's where the original language is English but where you can chose a Spanish or German dub... but I can't say I know how Sunburn is.

Hi! the original dialogue of the film is English so it will have the option of Spanish so it should be fine. I have Watching The Detectives in Polish! The title is Uwaga Violet but it is all in English, just the extra choice of Polish subtitle or dialogue whatever. I hope this helps! Also you will find that the regular posters on here are lovely to have a chat to on here! xxx

Thank you for your replies girls I have the Norwegian release of Falling For A Dancer (young Colin Farrell...yum!) and it is an English language release with Norse subtitles. I'm hoping this is the case with Sunburn.

I don't know about Sunburn, but I would have ordered the Spanish release of Sweety Barrett from Amazon if I hadn't read some customer's complaint saying it didn't have english audio at all, though it was claimed to have. Do they have a customer service number you could call and check to be sure? In Scandinavia only children's films are dubbed, so you can safely buy any Norwegian release. In Spain dubbing is common procedure, but it would make sense that there was the original audio too. Hopefully there is.

I've been wondering about this too. I really want to buy the Spanish version, but only if i know for sure that it hasn't been dubbed. That would be awful! No beautiful husky Cillian voice to listen to.

I emailed a seller on ebay and was told the technical details for the DVD are thus; English (Dolby Digital 2.0) Spanish (Dolby Digital 2.0) Spanish (Subtitles) I'm assuming that means you can have *either* an English or Spanish soundtrack? I don't suppose anyone owns the region 2 release and can clarify?

That sounds to me like it has both the English and the Spanish soundtrack

I've done a little more digging and it looks like it might be a Spanish over-dub with Spanish and English subtitles only. So now my question changes slightly. Can anyone who has the Australian release - region 4 - tell me whether on the back of the DVD case it says both region 4 and 2? It is a PAL release so i'm hoping it might play on my region 2 DVD player here in the UK. Has anyone from the UK bought the Australian release? Thanks again everyone, you're all lovely

I purchased my Sunburn disc online from an Australian retailer a couple of years ago, so I'm assuming it's Region 4... but there's no region information either on the case or on the disc itself. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful...! (I'm playing it on a region-free player I picked up for super-cheap on eBay about four years back, so no help there, either...) Did a bit of digging, though, and I found this listing over at DaaVeeDee: www.daaveedee.com/product_info.php?products_id=110116This isn't the release I have, but it looks as though this one definitely offers a choice of either English or Spanish language tracks, it's Region 2, and it's widescreen as well. Looks like a bargain!

I should imagine it is the original actors' dialogue. Dolby 2.0 is obviously referring to the stereo sound play

Thanks so much everyone, much appreciated. A friend of mine "found" Sunburn on the interweb to download but it has a Spanish translation speaking over the beautiful Irish tones so i'm still unsure Though one would assume if you had the legit DVD you could simply switch off the Spanish person?

Absolutely. You should just be able to pop over to the disc menu and select the English language track.

Yep, the region-free dvd player Punctuator was hinting about is a very good investment to any obsessed Cillian-fan. After you buy one, you can order films from anywhere without worrying about regions. PS3 is a region-free dvd- and blu-ray player. It's not the cheapest option, but it has proved to be a very useful device for a Cillian-collector/fan. I prefer to use Wii for gaming, but PS3 is a good multimedia device, and takes a lot less space than dvd/blu-ray players. Sorry for advertising, but since Cillian seems to be keen on making indie films every once in a while, a region-free dvd player seems like a must-have thingy to his fans. If you find one for a low price, I highly recommend buying it. Oh, and I just had to give you a CB for that sig, Irish_Lover. I rarely get excited about plain pictures with no sound or motion, but that pic really is enough to make a woman happy ;D, very happy...
