I am also into mummies and Egyptian culture, Bloody Rose! And your list reminded me as well, cougarlady, of my own interest gardening, world history and geneology. It's so hard to think of every single thing that one is into! I have a small collection of tarot cards, btw. There are so many different kinds, and they satisfy my interest in both fortune telling and art simultaneously.

I love studying about Mummies, I think I was 8 when I picked up a book about them at the schools library and I was so fascinated by it, it started with this picture of a girl who looked like she was only sleeping... she had been dead about 100 years or something... I was so fascinated about the beauty of her death and I just read all the books they had at the library about mummies and that sparked an interest in ancient Egypt too... the teachers were concerned I remember, I'd rather read about dead people than play with the other kids...
In the end, spending ones childhood studying something with interest has its benefits, I graduated with a fine grade in History because of a 20 page project on ancient Egyptian culture and burial rites and I didn't really have to study for that, I knew it all by heart...
Oh, oh! I forgot to add Volcanoes no my list! another childhood obsession

Too right, it is very challenging to list every single thing that you do and/or are interested in! Ditto on Egyptian art and culture Rose and Pisces! lol I guess I can just lump that one under world history or cultural geography. I have several beautiful coffee table books about Egypt, and was fortunate enough to see the King Tut exhibit last year.
Politics are also a keen interest, but again, I lumped it under community activism.
Bunnie, if you collect Barbies, you would probably love my tiny collection. I still have the Barbies that I played with as a kid, and they are in great condition. My grandmother used to make clothes for them, so I took great care of the dolls and their wardrobe. So glad that I still have them to remember my grandmother by. My favorite Barbie is still dressed in a beautiful white satin wedding dress and veil that she made long ago, and I still love it. BTW, impressive interest in economics! It took me years to begin to understand that.

Okay now I'm gonna sound like a copy cat but I also forgot I used to be into dinosaurs as a little girl... it was part of my 'I wanna be a boy cuz boys are more fun' face so I never fully got into that but I did have a favorite dinosaur if I could only remember its name and I collected dino toys

OMG, Zombie and Bloody Rose!! I have been into dinosaurs since I was 6!! Funny how people always get into them as small children. It would be so hard to choose a favorite! My long-time faves from way back are Stegosaurus and Triceratops because they look so badass, and of course T-rex because it WAS badass! But I'm also fascinated with the huge sauropods - like Argentinosaurus - because I think it's so amazing that creatures THAT large ever walked the earth. That blows my mind. So cool that there are other dino-lovers here!! *SQUEEEE!!*

I figured out my fave dinosaur!
A Brachiosaurus! I remember I liked it because it was such a gentle giant and it never killed anyone... my fave part of Jurassic part was when they met the Brachiosaurus in the tree!
Pisces and Zombie, did you see that documentary in a lot of part a few years ago where they animated the dinosaurs from the studies and made it like a dramatic view of their lives? I really enjoyed watching that!

Pisces and Zombie, did you see that documentary in a lot of part a few years ago where they animated the dinosaurs from the studies and made it like a dramatic view of their lives? I really enjoyed watching that! Was it called Walking With Dinosaurs? I saw that one a few years back and loved it! But it couldn't hold a candle to Jurassic Park. JP was like my childhood dreams come true... not the people being chomped in half, mind ya... just the cool stuff about seeing dinosaurs for real. LOL. So majestic. Sorry, don't mean to turn this into the dinosaur thread! LOL!!

What a great thread, it just keeps getting more interesting! For you dinosaur and Jurassic Park fans, you might have read that Japanese scientists say they plan to clone a wooly mammoth within five years, using some very JP-like techniques. Not a dinosaur per se, I guess you would call it an ice age mammal: singularityhub.com/2011/01/19/japanese-scientist-wants-to-clone-a-woolly-mammoth-in-the-next-five-years/And have you ever read "The First Fossil Hunters?" The author's original thesis asserts that the giant heroes and monsters of Greek mythology had their origins in the giant fossil bones found by the ancient Greeks. What better way to explain the giant bones that they found everywhere?? press.princeton.edu/titles/6811.htmlSo enjoying this thread, thanks Pisces and everyone.
